Re: Padlock thingy...?

Used to come across these when I was at work. The idea is, that removing any one of the vertical bolts allows the others to be slid together at one end, which in turn allows the latch to be opened....

Re: Question For The Computer Techies

Re: OM-D E-M1+HLD-7, black

I was planning on doing it myself, after making a dust proof box, as my previous house wasn't exactly spotless.
Unfortunately other stuff got in the way, but I still have the slice of IR glass and...

Re: OM-D E-M1+HLD-7, black

I guess that would depend on how much you market it at.
I bought the filter to convert my EP-1 but never got the chance due to a variety of circumstances.

Re: Prohibited items

Well maybe.

Has anyone else tried the filter button? It didn't make any difference to me, regardless the country selected.

I wonder if those prohibited items constitute a total of what's barred...

Re: My first visit to Bempton Cliffs

It's a good place to visit for the day, and since you're travelling from Cheshire, try and find the time to drop into North Cave (http://www.ywt.org.uk/reserves/north-cave-wetlands-nature-reserve) on...

Re: Broken Leica DG 8-18mm

My reading is that it's cheaper for Panasonic to replace a lens under warranty, than to set up a world wide repair facility; probably a purely business costing decision.

That is, if a lens dies...

Re: Broken Leica DG 8-18mm

Some years ago, my 50-200mm decided to come loose in the middle somewhere internally. I spotted then problem before it actually split into two parts, and duly shipped it to Olympus for repair.
I...

Re: Salisbury nerve agent - just what the hell is that stuff?

Craig Murray (https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/category/uncategorized/) makes some interesting observations on his blog, though whether he comes to the correct conclusions may be a moot point.

Re: Corroson on my EM1.1

Indeed, the last time I was obliged to use it in any quantity was wandering round a Peruvian jungle.
It softened the paint on my E-M1, so it wore through on the edges, and melted the glue holding...

Re: Corroson on my EM1.1

Several of mine do show similar signs: I assumed it was due to salt from sweat, from when I've been to hot countries.

Also beware of insect repellents containing DEET, as it seems to act as a...

Perhaps I shouldn't post these two links then; ;)

I've not looked at his stuff for a while, but seriously impressive, both photographically and from an engineering perspective.

Re: "Closeup" Lenses/Achromats (Rather Dated?)

There is some useful info on fuzzcraft.com, but the bookmarked page I had seems to be misbehaving at the moment; that is, it downloads, rather than opening in your browser.
However, there is a...

Re: Lousy TV sound

Yes I have exactly the same problem as you describe, both on flat screen, and my old CRT in the other house, so I don't buy the BBC's excuse.
For me, the problem got worse when we moved to digital...

Did either of you manage to work out if it's the drive or the caddy that houses it that's gone belly up?
Have you had contact with the manufacturer?
I ask as I've just had a LaCie NAS die on me....

Re: Bigma and EM-1..??

Before you do go, I'd have a play with the fine focus adjustment to tailor the lens to your particular body. I've not used my Bigma for some time on the E-M1, but certainly needed to set it up...
