Re: Nice bark

What amazing camouflage. Two great shots Walti, especially the second one.

The Tree Creepers near me must have even more cryptic plumage as I haven't spotted one for months. :D

Lovely shots of this perky and confident looking little Song Thrush Andrew. It's good to know that shiny new ones are still being produced in some parts of the country, as they are a thing of the...

Re: Another Satin Bowerbird (in privet).

What a great looking bird Ross. Lovely shots in a great setting. I like the way its eyes match the privet berries.

Re: Going Nowhere...........

That is a lovely, tranquil scene Mark. Despite being completely the opposite side of Britain, it has a remarkably similar feel to Wells harbour near me.

Re: Spotted Flycatchers with 300+MC-20

Yes, very nice indeed Andrew. From the second photo you appear to live in a castle with a portcullis. That's a surprise. :)

Re: New MC 20 announced.

That is very impressive Andrew. Have you taken any at full aperture for comparison? A 'quick grab shot' of a Spotted Flycatcher - you know how to rub it in. :)

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

These are the settings which I used. They might not be the best choice but they are what I have arrived at presently.

C-AF (not tracking); Silent Shutter, Sequential Low 10fps; C-AF Centre...

Re: Zuiko 300mm PRO glitch

I frequently have a similar problem to yours Mark. I see a bird and place the AF target over it but when I half press the shutter button all I see in the view finder is a smudge instead of the bird....

Wells-next-the-sea

We recently spent a week at Wells-next-the-sea and this is a selection of snapshots taken during our stay. The 'Lifeboat Horse' sculpture by Rachael Long was part of an art trail project last year....

A fine effort Walti. I bet you had twitchy fingers at the end of that session. :)

Terrific, detailed shots with great colours Andrew. I love the Wren. Were they taken with or without the MC-14?

Chiffchaff and Blossom

A Chiffchaff surrounded by Blackthorn blossom (I think.) This was one of about fifteen at Lowestoft North Denes last Thursday. A lovely sight and sound.

Re: Pulled trigger on cheap Pen F. Wish me luck...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Hi Phill. The first two egrets are indeed Little Egrets but the third one looks like a Cattle Egret to me (a nice find.) The 'tern' is a Black-headed Gull.

Re: Widows and pipes

That's a strong, geometric image Alf. I like it. From the thread title I was expecting it to be something to do with Scottish Widows. Maybe that sultry lady in a black, hooded cape. :)

Re: Dust off your old lenses! - or Kingfisher 2

That's a good one Phill. I have a copy of that lens somewhere but I haven't used it for years. My main complaint with it is the horrible whining noise it makes as it focuses. It is a bit embarrassing...
