Re: Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

Has no-one mentioned using the free dng converter, which Adobe promote as providing backwards compatibility for new cameras.

Re: Moor, Forest & Hill

In one way, certainly. The Himalayas weren't there when the Cheviots were an active volcano! Not sure about comparable heights, volcanoes aren't that high these days and none of my geology books on...

Moor, Forest & Hill

View of the Cheviots from Rimside Moor. I'm not sure how much longer that tree trunk is going to last, but it's quite handy :). I tried perking up the contrast but I prefer this washed out wintry...

Re: Ennerdale water sunrise

Nice work Alf. Personally I prefer the more restrained tones in the second.

Re: Derewent water reflections

Lovely conditions you got there Alf, but of course you have to actually make the effort to e there! A lovely set, but I prefer the ones looking down to the Jaws at Castle Crag, it's one of the views...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I'd be more worried about the state of the government, who are comprised largely of buffoons. The hated Hunt seems to be the only able person in the cabinet.

I'm out of this thread (again). Too...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Sorry Nigel, but hat's a nasty comment. It always brasses me off. She was ill with diabetes when those interviews were going on. She did get to Cambridge, she can add up. Not that the problems were...

60mm not splashproof??

I had my E-M5mkii out in woodland on a showery day. It wasn't heavy rain, but the gear was getting a bit of a shower on it. Not for long, maybe 10 minutes. I ended shooting a focus bracket shot &...

Re: Communal flowers, trees, plants and fungi thread

Would the stem not just get as long as it needed to clear the debris around it? This was sitting out in a clear spot.

Re: Communal flowers, trees, plants and fungi thread

Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree, most of them in my catalogue are "sp.". But this one looks good, if this (https://mycena.no/adscendens.htm)is anything to go by

Re: Communal flowers, trees, plants and fungi thread

Not posted in a while, but I thought I'd share these two little beauties. Mycena adscendens, Frosty Bonnet, I reckon. Caps about 2mm across.

Re: To flash or not

Thanks for this further input. :tup

I think one of the issues with the flash shots are the harsh shadows, which are a mixed blessing - small details such as the striae on the 'shroom cap are...

Re: To flash or not

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Normally for fungi, where I can use a longish exposure because they don't blow around in the wind (mostly), I use ambient light, but I had a bit of a play around...

To flash or not

This is all highly subjective, but here are two shots of a fungus taken both in dull ambient light and with flash. The firswt pair are 7-14mm wide angle with just a light bit of flash so that the BG...

Re: The reality is that the e-group needs your help

Made a monthly donation. I was wondering about a percentage of stuff I buy and sell on here. Every little helps (or has that already been suggested)
