Re: Best practice external hard drives

When you put your old drives in the new (Synology) NAS in the same slot order as in the old NAS and launch the 'Migrate' function, it reads the existing (RAID) configuration data from the old HDDs...

Re: Castlerigg stone circle in snow

I prefer the first (based on your position w.r.t. the circle) and the last because of the sky.

In both cases I think they might look even better as letter-box format with the top 50% of the sky...

Re: Updated Olympus lens "roadmap"

I expect one of these will be painted white, very fast, and extremely expensive
and the other will be for folk with more limited budgets :)

Re: Olympus 75mm f/1.8

Have you looked on the ffordes.com web site?
They have a couple of s/h (silver) copies. Go to page 6 on the m43 lens listing.

Re: Show us your first cameras

My first camera was a Kodak Brownie Starmite. Don't have a photo of it, but you can see an image and some info about the camera here:-http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Kodak_Brownie_Starmitehttp://

Re: Four Thirds User - currently being operated on!

Much of the new site looks good and modern, but for short posts (i.e. no photo embedded) there is a huge amount of white-space - which is caused by the length of the associated left hand side...

Re: Panning with the EM1

Have you set Frame Rate = High (Cog D) - the EVF will refresh at 120fps - at the expense of battery endurance?

Re: E-M1 II Firmware Upgrade 2.3

I've just updated to f/w 2.3 and was pleasantly surprised to discover that the shutter speed and aperture settings that I've specified in C1, C2, & C3 modes were restored.

Until now these...

Re: Can anyone shed any light on this

Perhaps their web server isn't properly secured (SSL certificates etc.) and your mobile data path /settings are less rigorously checked than via your router/wifi.
I've noticed how over the...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Whilst I appreciate that many Olympus m4/3 users were hoping for an EM-1ii successor, I don't understand why there is so much negative sentiment about the EM1X.

It's been obvious for several years...

Re: Olympus 150-400 Rumour

Pretty much the way I'm thinking. My 40-150 will get a new lease of life.

For me the new lens roadmap is the most interesting aspect of today's announcement. Of course history shows that...

Re: Anyone print A3 ?

I use an Epson SC-400. It prints A3+ and 13" roll paper - so is good for panoramas.
Having experienced the head block problem on my last printer I have now got into the habit of printing a 5"x7"...

Re: MORE Th>N ( you think ) Pet Insurance

We've always used PetPlan to insure our dogs, and have been very pleased with their service and behaviour. Whilst their premiums appear to be expensive when you get your young dog; however they pay...

Re: Oly 12-40 vs 12-100 size and weight.

The 12~40 weighs 382gm and is 84mm long x 70mm diam..
The 12~100 weighs 561gm and is 116mm long x 77mm diam..

Unlike Paul, I find it ideal as a 'walkabout' lens, as (having previously been...

Re: Looking for an alternative to Lightroom 6 Map module

I use Geosetter to transfer my GPS track files (in GPX format) to my image files.

I have LR6 set up to create .XMP side-car files for all my ORF images.
When Geosetter matches the track points to...

Re: Suggestions - suitable bag for larger lenses

Have you looked at the Tenba Messenger DNA range:
I use a DNA 11 and have configured it to hold Em1 mkii with 12-100 attached + either:

40~150Pro with MC14 attached or
300F4. You can just...

Re: OMD EM1 Auto ISO

You can change the point at which the (auto)ISO starts to kick in. I agree that on both the mk1 & mk2 the default change point is too early.

For the mk2 go to Cog E1 -> ISO_Auto_Set. The default...

Re: Which filters for 7-14 pro

Another vote for both the Phil Norton adapter and Nisi filters.

I decided to sell my m43 7~14mm because UWA wasn't a style of photography I felt comfortable with. While I had it, I found Phil's...

Re: Olympus 150-400 Rumour

You are probably correct...

... however, bear in mind that this extra (miserly) 20% would take you from 800mm fl to 960mm fl (in 35mm terms).
Though I think you'd have to forego the coffee if...

Re: What a difference a day makes

Yes, we are very lucky to live on a ridge ~200m above sea level. It looks over the Cheshire plain to the south west and on clear days we can see the outline of Snowdonia against the horizon.

a detachable grip
no vertical grip
Presumably it needs the grip space to...
