Re: The inner sanctum

Apart from the little bit of sky it is virtually monochrome! But I like the way the blue of the sky complements the yellowy shades of the structure, and we would lose that if it were converted.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I'm a bit conflicted about it and am looking forward to seeing what it will really deliver. Even with the E-M1 Mk II and f/2.8 lenses I still get problems in low light with sport at this time of...

Re: Worth a look

Thanks BT. I knew they existed and have seen the ones near Dover on TV (probably in a Portillo Railway Journeys prograame) but didn't know there were so many.

Re: Weirdest SALE

Well done!

I think I tried Silverfast when I first got the V750, and didn't like it. Probably more down to the interface than anything functional, but I find that the standard Epson Scan utility...

Re: Weirdest SALE

Just out of curiosity I did a trawl for used Coolscan V and found some on eBay for around 500 - which is about what I paid for mine new 20+ years ago.

I've just done some Googling for getting...

Re: Weirdest SALE

We're drifting a bit off-topic here, but....

I have a Nikon Coolscan V (aka LS-50) which I believe uses the same driver as the LS-9000. I have it working quite happily on Windows 10 64-bit, and...

Re: Nesting

Wrong way round, Mark.

EC-14 and EC-20 are for "big 4/3" lenses - in your link it gives as an exmaple the 300mm f/2.8 which is only available in 4/3, not Micro 4/3.

The MC-14 is the currently...

Re: Olympus 35RC

I would think that if you already have one of those magical little Rolleis Steve then the 35RC/D wouldn't offer too much extra. Apart from being nice to have, of course :)

And I've just noticed...

Re: Olympus 35RC

It was the first camera that I bought for myself (for about 50 quid in 1874 if memory serves) and I still think it is lovely. I don't recall having had problems with focus or the rangefinder, and I...

Re: Adobe CC updates

Belated thanks, David, for the link to the videos which I have finally had time to watch.

I thought the first two, on profiling and soft-proofing, were pretty good on their subjects but not really...

Re: Its Coming

Gosh, that awakened a distant memory. But until I read the Wiki entry I hadn't realised how distant - the film was made in 1976 and i think the original case was in 1974:

Re: 3, 2, 1 or none at all?

1st shot, with 3 ducks, for me - but I would lop off (most of) the dark area at the top left.

Re: Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 MSC R Lens

I think there must be a lot of variation between samples of this lens, as some people say they are not impressed by it. I bought one from a forum member and had some good results with it - this is...

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Phill - your description of the lockup sounds similar to the problems that some of us had with the E-M1 Mark I when it was new. It just seized up under apparently random circumstances, and among the...

Re: Moon

Mars, I think. Lots of excited people have recently been putting phone pics up on Faecesbook claiming to be the moon and Mars - and the pictures are so poor that they could be anything, complete with...

Adobe CC updates

For this of us on the Adobe CC bandwagon there is a new set of updates. I haven't tried anything out yet but from a quick look at the descriptions there are some small goodies in Lightroom, more...

Re: To edit or not to edit! that's the question?

Dan has pretty much summed up my thoughts. I think it works well as it is, and without the pylon and wires you wouldn't really have enough left to make it anything more than a pleasant scene.

Never mind the plane and the telescope, that's a fine looking viaduct in the centre of the pic!

Lovely rolling green countryside, possibly just what we have in mind when we think about Middle...

Re: Swansea Tram Museum

No - ND filters just reduce the intensity of light. Polarising filters, as their name suggests, cut polarised light. Hard to explain in a few words, but in effect polarisation is the plane in which...

I have with a Nikon 35mm film scanner. Nikon have refused to update their drivers, and...
