Re: Steady Hand of the Year

Here are a couple from Crete, the harbour area of Agios Nikolaos by night. The combination of the E-M1 Mk2 and 12-100 f/4 is ludicrously capable of sharp, hand-held images at slow shutter speeds....

Re: New Olympus Patent: 400mm f4.0 MFT Lens

I have the Pana-Leica 100-400 and it is a cracking lens but if Olympus brought out an equivalent it would be tempting for two reasons. Firstly it would be nice to have image stabilisation in the lens...

Re: Amazon deal? E-M1 Mark ii with free grip 1369

It is a very good deal but the wife would kill me if I went for it, especially as I already have one :o

Re: Voting procedures...

With the "Thanks" and "Like" buttons we could implement a 1st, 2nd & 3rd voting scheme: both "Thanks" + "Like" = 1st; just a "Thanks" = 2nd; just a "Like" = 3rd. It might give more finely nuanced...

Re: No medium telephoto primes

I agree, it really is a great lens but its great drawback on MFT is the lack of speed. It is slow to focus, although it is quicker on the E-M1 Mk 2 compared to the Mk 1, and it is glacially slow when...

Re: Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro

I think it probably would, and for a couple of reasons in that particular situation. Firstly, I was using the Sigma 150 with the EC-14 but couldn't get very close to the action (I was in a garden...

Re: Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro

I have one and use it frequently. It is very sharp and works well on the E-5 and Mk 1 & 2 E-M1s. Focus is nailed more quickly on the Mk 2 than the Mk 1 or E-5 with much less tendency to hunt or spool...

Re: Fens Falconry BIF meeting?

I would like to attend if the dates work out. No holidays booked but we're in the throes of moving our daughter to new accommodation as she is starting a new job

Re: Can You Tell What It Is Yet?

Sorry for the slow reaction, I'm in the far west of rural Pembrokeshire and the broadband is a bit flaky :(

My shot was of a stack of chairs in St David's cathedral and was taken a couple of years...

Re: 24-48mm legacy Zuiko

I also had this lens and now regret chopping it in along with the 75-150mm f/4 when buying a second-hand OM 180mm f/2.8 :(

Re: Bempton Cliffs: Tesni Ward Workshop - Image Heavy

Thank you all for the kind comments :)

I realise that razorbills and guillemots do not feature in my selection. My guillemot shots look rather messy with no particular point of interest, just a...

Bempton Cliffs: Tesni Ward Workshop - Image Heavy

Paul (pdk42) has already posted a couple of threads regarding the one day Coastal Birds workshop run by Tesni Ward that we attended. I am much slower sorting through images than he is but I have...

Re: A few from Bempton Cliffs

I've only just got home after braving the monsoon on the A1, stopping off to take some indoor shots at Wimpole Hall then hitting epic delays on the M11 (closed between Harlow and the M25) so I've not...

Re: Firmware Update on Monday

I've just done the update of both the E-M1 Mk 2 and the 12-100 and the process appears to have completed without error. The very long wait while the 12-100 did its thing was rather nerve wracking...

Re: front dial feels different?

I hadn't noticed before but comparing the Mk 1 and Mk 2 shows that the Mk 2 front dial is indeed "softer" in feel whereas the rear is similar to both Mk 1 dials. Perhaps the Mk 3 will have two "soft"...

Re: Some Birds of Britain

Very encouraging to see how well the E-M1 Mk2/12-100 combo has nailed the focus. The whole AF experience for me seems snappier in comparison to the Mk1, the performance with the Sigma 150mm f/2.8...

Re: Manual Focus Glass

I often use legacy (and some not so legacy) MF glass on micro 4/3rds and 4/3rds. The OM Zuiko 90mm f/2 and 50mm f/2 macro lenses work very well, being easy to focus because they are bright. The OM...

Re: New York Public Library

Excellent shots *yes

They look very sharp, were they shot wide open? I've read mixed reviews of Voigtlander's wider lenses resolution at f/0.95 although the 42.5 is supposed to be very crisp.

Re: How do I...................

The way I do it on the E-M1 is to change the metering mode to "Spot-Highlight" then, with the moon in the centre of the image, the camera meters correctly for the bright object and the viewfinder...
