Re: DXO PhotoLab & NIK offer

Copy of an email to their support line (following up a previous reply saying there was no upgrade price for an existing PhotoLab user to add just the NIK bits):

Hello again.

I'm sorry to say...

Gorgeous images (and a commentary as erudite as ever).

I do love your contributions, whether or not I comment.

Re: Two cameras in one! so can't update

Bizarre …

Have you tried googling on the exact error message? Sorry I can't make any better suggestion.

Re: Two cameras in one! so can't update

Just a guess but have you got some other USB-attached device which the system might be mistaking for a camera? Or perhaps an SD card plugged in?

Re: Buttons..What do you do with them?

Fn1 - Magnify
Fn2 - MF (toggle)
Record button - Peaking
AEL/AFL - S1/C2/M3
Front buttons - unchanged. I used DOF preview sometimes in close-up (and have a menu setting to make it a toggle button...

Re: Olympus 1.4x Tele Converter EC-14

I suspect not. I tried to stack my EC-14 and EC-20 (for an experiment, not because I wanted to) and the body recognised the non-standard combnation and refused to function, with the "--.--" symbol at...

Re: 40-150 Pro vs. 50-200 SWD

And - for some of us at least - price. The used price of 50-200 (SWD or non-SWD) makes it an absolute bargain.

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

I hear there's a feature to make the focus ring on the lens automatically switch to MF mode, so in effect all lenses have a clutch. This seems eminently sensible to me; the expected behaviour for...

Re: Sigma 105mm Macro Lens 4/3 fit

Sounds an intriguing lens, though some say it is slow to focus. I have the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 macro which is superlative as a general purpose telephoto as well as for macro. Don't think I can imagine...

Pany 10-25 is now around at 1799. Not sure who it is supposed to appeal to; was outside my budget. Maybe wedding photographers for indoor use?

Re: Upgrade to weather sealed

My view - the original E-M1 (or "Mark I" as it was never called until there was a Mark II) is incredibly cheap on the used market and superb value. It was the top of the range Pro body until a...

Re: Disabling stabilisation off switch

Maybe superglue is the only answer. Seems a bit crude …

Sometimes I think the switch gets moved when getting the camera out of the bag. As does the focus clutch ring, but that's more immediately...

Disabling stabilisation off switch

Hi. Not sure whether anyone can advise.

I gave an E-M1 ii with the 12-100 usually attached. Occasionally after taking a photo which looks a bit fuzzy feeling I've found that the switch on the lens...

Re: Who is this ?

Whyever not?

(I'm not normally the sort of person to wear advertising stuff, but buying an extra strap doesn't seem like my highest priority. What are the advantages?)

Re: So who's going to enforce it?

Maybe the taxi drivers should wear a pullover. Most of their customers will be in outdoor clothing and don't really want to be overheated while in a taxi. As for buses, I expect the bus companies...

Re: S-AF(MF) - a slight downside

Sorry if I put that confusingly.

If you're in S-AF(MF) then you can take photos with whatever focus you select; sharp or fuzzy. Even if you have Rls Priority S, you won't be prevented from taking...

S-AF(MF) - a slight downside

When I started using OMD a couple of years back, I quickly decided S-AF (MF) seemed to be better than S-AF for normal use in that it gave me the extra option to make fine tuning using the focus ring...
