Re: Resolution and Image Quality

Seems very self-limiting to me, Derek.
Havn't you ever learned to appreciate something by learning more about it?
Anyway, it's the individual's choice.

Re: Resolution and Image Quality

There’s a perennial and entertaining debate to be had between ‘art’ and ‘craft’: so, for everyone laughing at piles of bricks and Tracey’s unmade bed, there are people who say the ‘perfect’...

Re: Resolution and Image Quality

Depends whether you want Ďartí or Ďreproductionsí and what your budget is (tens or hundreds of quid, or more), and whether you like modernist stuff and Britart. However, Iíve found these people a...

Re: Foreign hire car CDW insurance

Some airlines are a bit clever about this, including BA. Youíll find they usually issue separate bookings for flights and car hire so it doesnít count as a Ďpackageí.

Re: Thornton Pickard 5x4" half-plate view camera?

The interwebs are full of stuff on this, but SpeedGraphic are a good U.K. supplier - eg https://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/film_processing/mod54_4x5_sheet_film_holder/22123_p.html

Re: Reviews:

He's one of the most independent of all assessors, in my humble opinion, and he takes his time to try things out properly after he's got conversant with them. He's also a strong advocate of m4/3...

Thornton Pickard 5x4" half-plate view camera?

I wonder if anyone here knows anything about Thornton Pickard 5x4" half-plate view cameras, or could point me to any fora or resources for people who might?

Re: Hi Res

According to one of the videos posted here, the X uses normal human movement to achieve the handheld 50Mp composite image and it switches the IS on and off between and during shots to achieve that....

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

Iíve had them done once a year at the NEC for quite a few times now. Yes, Olympus sensors are amazingly good at throwing off dust, and visible issues on images are rare and usually transient, but it...

Re: Mount on E-M10

Some people have had problems with the 100-400 on Oly bodies, particularly the M1ii, which as I recall resulted in premature wear to the mount (canít remember if it was on lens or body). Thereís...

Re: Card specs

Ha!
I believe the M1ii wonít use 300Mb/s cards to their full potential so I stick to the 150s, and have never had the camera lock up while clearing the buffer. Cards are a lot cheaper than they were...

Re: From total over-exposure to 'Art'?

All you need to do with that now is to add a few texture layers in Ps, and youíve got a winner.
It is quite amazing what Capture One can extract from a burned file.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Re: Norwich to London - Holga plastic lens

I must try one of these.
Like Intentional Camera Movement shots I'm sure the key is taking a lot and being selective in pruning. There's no doubt the atmosphere in several of those is really great.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

You have to be very lucky to get one of these close up! They avoid humans like the plague it seems.

As luck would have it, the last time one flew really close over me at Titchwell I was changing...

Great! I remember it well.
I occasionally come across Jon on the Sony and m4/3 forums on dpreview: he bought my E1 and still uses it every now & again.

Yes, Liverpoolís great.

I like Steveís image a lot. Yeah, itís terminally unsharp, but doesnít it give a fine impression of the scene which is all about the light rather than the substance?

Re: Lexar 64Gb UHS-II 150Mb/s for £29.99

Iím talking subjectively: the key point is that with either card Iíve never had the camera halt taking images in long bursts because the internal buffer was full. It may well take longer to write to...
