Re: New silver E-M1 Mark II camera

You get the standard raw, named .ORI and the hires raw, named .ORF, and the JPG. But you choose all this in the menu, after selecting hires mode. See the manual.

Re: Hi Res

You need to do a 100% crop. The difference should be easy to see.
Did you have the camera really stable - an ordinary tripod may not be good enough. Try resting it on a flat concrete slab.

Re: Trying to save RAW colour and mono jpg

I suppose the ideal for you would be the ability to assign a new toggle function to a button. On pressing the button it would toggle between displaying a completely standard colour rendering of the...

Re: EM1 MKII Lock Up

You can buy a 2ml tube of Deoxit on eBay for 6. You only need a few drops each time so one of these will last for many years.

Re: E-M1.2 playback showing in EVF not on screen.....

You run the Olympus Updater. You need the latest version of it (v2.1).

It lets you make backups and restore them. You can use it to copy settings from one camera to another as well.

If you have...

Re: Advanced Manual?

Yes, you can do it, that is one of the reasons for it. For example suppose you lose your camera and get a new one. You can get it fully configured in a few minutes.

Re: Stacking in camera, some lenses will, some won't...why is that?

Perhaps more importantly:
3. Some lenses change focal length somewhat as they change focus. This particularly applies close up. It prevents good stacking results as the images don't accurately...

Re: AF not as accurate

He means AF Sensitivity, and I think he means -2. (The name changed with later firmware)

I personally think +2 (High) is better, if you can keep the subject in the focus point. If you can't then...

Re: Shutter Count not working

2.1

Did you get to where it says:
E-M1MarkII
03 01 01 01

If you can see that, and the instructions that followed didn't work, try them again until they do work.

- Press in sequence...

Here are the instructions I have, they work:

Check system information
- Camera OFF
- Hold down MENU button and turn ON the camera
- Release MENU button and press MENU again to get to Menus
-...

Re: Yellow wall comes out grey?

This is what automatic white balance (AWB) does. It saw the yellow wall and made it grey. I doubt it was the mainly the flowers in front that caused it, it would have been the huge proportion of the...

Re: C-AF - tight/loose

Here are the actual timing delays controlled by the setting. This is copied from the forum I originally posted it to.

Results of timing measurements

I worked out a way to measure the C-AF...

Re: C-AF - tight/loose

My approach is to use a single focus point and +2 sensitivity. With a 300mm lens, following a small subject is very difficult anyway. I use C-AF (no tracking) and try to keep the focus point on the...

Re: C-AF - tight/loose

I did extensive tests and it does affect C-AF (without tracking). It makes a huge difference.
What it does is introduce a delay before it reacts to a change in focus. If you set it to +2 (most...

Re: Peckforton Castle Experience Day

I suggest you simply take your 12-100 and concentrate on trying lenses you are not familiar with. The 7-14 Pro is the obvious one for a castle. But perhaps the 40-150 Pro or the 300 Pro might...

Re: About to buy a Pen-F

Shutter shock is simply a vibration caused by the movement of the mechanical shutter. It causes blurred photos at slow shutter speeds. The anti-shock (diamond) mode 0s does not have side effects. Do...

Re: Firmware Update

See page 193 of the new version of the manual.
You have to have the lens on the camera for the option to be enabled.

See Menu/Cog/J1/Fisheye compensation

Re: Firmware Update

I wrote this for another forum. It isn't really sensitivity, it simply controls the delay before it starts refocussing. +2 means it starts changing focus without delay. Here is the whole story:

I...

Re: Firmware Update

Try this. Go to Cog/D1, then the fourth line down.
Scroll down and make sure you have a tick against all the ones you want to be able to use. If ProCapH isn't ticked, it won't show up.

What you were led to believe used to be true. You are thinking of the reason why major version changes on the older cameras lost the settings.

The E-M1 II, and the improved updater, specifically...

Does the flash fire?

Set the camera to M, ISO 800, 1/250, f/5.6
RC mode off.
Put switch on back in position 2.
Press AF button on top left of camera. Select the...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I use the SanDisk 300MB/s cards. Well worth it. A few days ago I took 1000 shots of diving birds using ProCapture. But if you only take single photos your old ones are fine.
(You also need the fast...
