Re: ChromeBooks?

As everyone says, Chromebooks run Chrome OS which is a Linux variant. In principle you will be able to run any Linux app on it (e.g. Darktable etc). The later Adobe apps will work on it, but not...

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

Re: Upgrade to weather sealed

Here's my take:

- There's virtually nothing between the E-M1 and E-M5ii in terms of IQ in normal circumstances, but for long exposures (30s or greater), the E-M1 is WORSE - you get terrible chroma...

Re: Horizontal Squibble

Ah - a tree rat! They look cute, but I'd strangle them all if I could!

Nice shot though :)

Re: Sony RX100

I had one for a short while. Good IQ, but handling was atrocious. I think an LX100 would make a better option (if you can get one that focuses properly at longer distances). Either that or a...

Re: A brief walk down a country lane...........

Very nice close-up shots Mark. I'd be tempted to crop off the flower head on the left of the first though to leave the main bloom as the sole subject.

Re: Rumours that Sony has made a 32MP MFT sensor

If you want free, then either Darktable or Rawtherapee are the way to go.

Re: Android Stock - yes/no

For an OS to work on a particular bit of kit (tablet, PC, phone, whatever) you'll need two things:

- The OS will need to have been compiled (turned into binary machine code from the original...

Re: An army of clones

I don't want to speak for Nigel, but look at it objectively Steve. Modern digital cameras simplify and automate the photography process enormously:

- Fast and accurate AF
- Excellent metering...

Re: Return to Olympus

Welcome. Lots to like in the Oly m43 ecosystem. I switched from Canon in 2012 and have never regretted it.

Re: An army of clones

I shot film for years and now also have an OM1 which I use very occasionally. When I do there is no epiphany. I find the process clunky and the output disappointing. We all have different needs...

Re: Recommended reading

Yes, Lightroom includes ACR. This does indeed mean that raw conversion and simple image adjustments are the same - but there's a lot more to both Lightroom and Photoshop than the initial raw file...

Re: Recommended reading

I'd suggest that you do not start with Photoshop or other "destructive" general purpose image editors. These all directly manipulate the image and the raw processing part is limited to import and...

Re: 6s hand held!

I've noticed edge blurring on very long hand held shots. I'm pretty sure it's an IBIS artefact.
