Re: Little Grebe in the Sunshine

Super shots Ron, they are very tricky to get a decent shot of; you have done a lot better than any of my attempts.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

To be honest: the background is OK but the subject looks out of focus to me and is flying away.

Re: Little Grebe in the Sunshine

Very nice. The low sunshine helps to pick out all of the details and gives it a wonderful colour. I usually see them from a hide at full telephoto, so I know what you mean! :)

Nice, beautiful colors. Like the detailed pattern in the rufous feathers and the look in the eye.

Re: Eat and Reflect

Handsome bird with that black, white, orange plumage, Ron. I don't think we have Shelducks here.

Re: Common Snipe in Reeds

Among those reeds, I'm amazed that you were able to get that many clear shots. Its bill is well adapted to its habitat. Lovely work, Ron.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Ron never seen the underwing on a curlew before. Really bright, jazzy and makes the image. Always seen them as dull before, nice to see the reality. (and agree with Mark - the Harrier is OK too ;)

Re: Some recent birds

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Ron, this was a first for Hertfordshire. There do seem to be a few more finding their way here. This is a juvenile, the adults are much plainer, hence the Pallid...

Lovely, evocative images Ron. It is a delight to be suddenly in their presence and it passes so quickly. Good that you can now get images to remember and be proud of as well.

I sometimes think...

Re: Bearded Tit

Excellent images of a lovely bird.

An old friend of mine, who’s a keen birder, jogger and looks a bit like a thinner and younger version of Brian Blessed, was on an early morning footpath run...
