Re: Hummingbirds

Hi,

Just checked my reference book (Birds of the West Indies) and according to it you should find the same species as on Guadeloupe i.e. the Green-throated Carib, the Purple-throated Carib and the...

Re: Hummingbirds

Hi Mark,

Good to hear the setup you brought works for you. I was using the mechanical shutter for my photos, from old habit I suppose to avoid rolling shutter effects on BIF, which would not have...

Re: Panasonic 100-400

Hi Ross,

I guess you already have the 40-150/F2.8? And also the MC14?

If that is the case then if I were you I would go for the 300/F4, although it is more expensive. My reasoning:
The Zuiko...

Re: Oly 12-200 f3.5-6.3

I guess the target group would be e.g. those wanting a single lens setup capable of capturing a wide range of subjects and not having the highest requirements on IQ. However at that price tag I'd...

Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

Hi

When in process of updating LR to be able to process G9 RW2 files I noticed that Adobe have declared that this will be the last version (unless you subscribe to CC, which I don't). I will...

Re: Hummingbirds

The E-M1.2 will acquire focus fast enough. The challenge is having it acquire focus on the subject. One thing struck my mind: to eliminate risk of scouting background beyond range you could take...

Re: Pheasant Through Tamron 350mm Mirror Lens on EM-1

Good colors and details but I must admit I am not too fond of these "donuts". At 500 you should be able to find a Tamron 300mm F/2.8, http://www.adaptall-2.com/lenses/60B.html

Re: Hummingbirds

Hi Mark,

Tough call. It depends a bit on what kind of vegetation and flowers they will be hovering around... trade-off between maximizing the detail and risk of clipping the subject when shooting...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

No worries. I just thought that the previous post, referring to the blog where the lens is praised would belong to for instance this discussion (http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=49486)

Hummingbirds are easy in the sense they can be approached at fairly close distance and gardens will attract them given the owner has planted the right species and the season is right with...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I think this should be moved to the Telephoto lens session as it discusses the recently announced lens.

Apart from this "35 mm equivalent" comparison which irritates me, I agree that the 150-400...

If short of memory, maybe allowing to store the AI/tracking algorithms on SD card and/or computer disk could be solution to increase the range of applications?

Re: Olympus 150-400 Rumour

Since it's F/4.5 it should be around 30%-35% lighter than the F/4 lens, assuming similar optical design and OTA.
