Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

I have lots of specific guides and find a mixture of ones with photos and ones with coloured drawings works well, especially for mushrooms, where I often consult two or three books, plus websites,...

Re: Mass emergence of rare butterflies.

I can't see where you mentioned the name of the butterfly (Duke of Burgandy Fritillary).

You probably omitted it in your excitement! ;)

No. 2 is absolutely perfect.

Re: Butterflies with 12-200 and 40-150 (+1.4 tc) lenses

Mrs K asked me to forward her thanks to you, Peter, along with mine of course. She has had a good look at your pictures and found them very interesting with regard to what the lens is capable of.

Re: Butterflies with 12-200 and 40-150 (+1.4 tc) lenses

To my mind your bird shot highlights the lens detail far better than the butterfly shots and is seriously impressive. At close quarters the 75-300mm is (possibly) equally impresive but falls short...

Re: Butterflies with 12-200 and 40-150 (+1.4 tc) lenses

The Bokeh on the 12-200 is "better" in your examples, but that may just be the type of background. It is a superb optic and gets alot of use, though not so much for macro, yet.

Re: Butterflies with 12-200 and 40-150 (+1.4 tc) lenses

Lovely butterfly photos, Peter. #2 is so clear, money is on the 40-150 Pro.

I agree with your thoughts on that lens, I use it quite often for non-birding walks. The 12-200mm certainly covers a...

Re: Wrinkled Peach Fungi

Thanks Peter.

Like you, I like the strands of spiderweb however, I wasn't so pleased when, what I presumed to be, the manufacturer showed up as it was a False Widow and seemed a little agitated.
