Re: An Optimistic Article about Olympus

Since Nature and Wildlife are my main interests, I am in strong agreement with this article, although the diagram seems to omit Outdoor Sports (other than extreme sports), which I would have thought...

Re: From E-510 to OM-D E-M5

Don't be put off by the low price of the 40-150 f/4-5.6 MFT lens. Yes, it's very light and has a plastic mount but, optically (where it matters), the performance is far better than the price might...

Re: Sigma 150-600 mm adapted for MFT???

I haven't used one of these, but I believe the Metabones retains the electronic connections with Canon EF lenses.

Re: Lenses: relative length & diameter

Most 'long' lenses use the so-called 'telephoto' design, which makes the overall length of the assembly shorter than the focal length would suggest. Conversely, many wide angle lenses use a 'reverse...

I compared your photo (which I enhanced a little) with an image from Stellarium set to the same date, as shown below:

Re: Lexar 64Gb UHS-II 150Mb/s for £29.99

I bought mine to speed up the process of 'stacking' for macro photography. The 150MB/s UHS-II card reduced a frustratingly long wait to acceptable.

If your current card is adequate for the...

Re: EM-1 Shutter sticking closed

It happened to my E-M1 just before the end of its Warranty. Olympus (Portugal) returned it looking (and working) like new, so I traded it in for an E-M1 Mk.ii.

Re: Lexar 64Gb UHS-II 150Mb/s for £29.99

I find it interesting that you find the speed comparable between the versions in an E-M1-ii. If you are referring to write speeds, this implies that the camera may be setting a limit rather than the...

Re: Easy lens changing

i have not had a problem with dust in my Movo carrier, perhaps because it is of metal construction and does not attract dust as plastic would. If, say, I have the 12-50 lens on my camera, I remove...

Re: Motor Insurance Question

Why not indeed. There is certainly no reward for loyalty. I had let mine renew without questioning over several years and got almost 50% reduction when I asked for a new quotation. Same for house...

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Last night, I tried taking a 'whole sky' photo with my Meike 6.5mm fish-eye lens, mounted on my E-M1 Mk.ii.

The lens was pointing vertically upwards on a tripod which I set up in the middle of the...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Is £6500 for a Leica body 'sensible'?

Perhaps Olympus are trying to enter that sacred space where aficionados will pay just for the name.

Re: E-m1 (classic) won't start - clicking

I'm sure it's repairable at much less cost than a new camera:)

I must admit that my E-M1 had more than its fair share of problems, including failure of a strap lug (a well-known defect),...

Re: E-m1 (classic) won't start - clicking

Sounds exactly the same as what finished my E-M1 - it tipped me into buying a Mk.ii.

Look into the front of the camera - is the shutter closed over the sensor?

It's not a UK plant but an epiphytic Orchid, Oberonia austroyunnanensis, from Yunnan province in China. For details, see http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=250092633

Re: Images I Bought the Laowa 25mm x2.5 to x5 For e.g. Arcyria

I always find it useful to have an appreciation of subject size. For, example, when photographing miniature orchids, I add a scale line because, otherwise, it could be completely mis-interpreted as...

Re: "NOISE!" (revised) by Terry Lane.

I did enjoy Terry Lane's comment that using ISO 6400 feels a bit "naughty".

Re: Images I Bought the Laowa 25mm x2.5 to x5 For e.g. Arcyria

Fascinating photos and the stereo is very effective. As one not familiar with these things, a scale on the photo would be helpful to appreciate their tiny size.
