Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Why?

Surely a matter as important as Brexit should be cross-party rather than party political?

I can think of a few other departments that might be better run by cross-party...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

And that is exactly our problem. France has always put France first, even if it means ignoring EU rules. We simply do what we are told even when it is not in our interests.

Having worked for a...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Really? The French threatened to blockade their ports if we don't pay the Brexit divorce settlement in full, but they didn't stop the Germans in the 1940's.

Italy? Spain? Holland?

Our best bet...

Re: How are we going to save the planet?

Oh I don't know. I think there is a very real danger that if Jeremy did ever get into No. 10 we would never get him out again. Just look at Russian, Chinese and North Korean leaders and their...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

What about Luxemburg? Amazon, eBay, Google, Facebook and many others declare their tax there so they must be loaded.

Now remind me, who was their PM?

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

There would be a few Hail Mary's too I suspect. *yes

But gambling, along with drinking is a good Catholic tradition; usually in the name of sport.

I am told that it is impossible to find a...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I wouldn't disagree with that Jim. But I wouldn't be hanging around in any club that only wanted me for my money!

Actually, for a small country we have done a great deal for Europe over the last...

If we were Greece or Italy they would be pleased to be rid of us.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Well now, there was an interesting fiddle a few years ago.

Southern Ireland received a lot of cash from the EU to boost tourism. Many people built big new houses and bungalows, usually painted...

There are also some awkward questions about how long the Mayor of London has known about this and yet said and done nothing.

Most of it shipped all the way from China.

China now says it plans to build another four-hundred airports over the next twenty years, so f*** the environment.

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

If you look at the figures you will probably find the CO2 emissions are slightly lower; just enough to put it into a lower tax bracket.

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

Because mathematically, and under test conditions it produces less CO2 per kilometre driven than you old diesel. NOX output is also lower which I think affects the tax band for petrol Vs diesel.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

This is a common problem I believe. Air intake sensors seem to have a limited life on all cars; usually going open circuit. They 'fail safe' at - 40 C which can affect certain functions, but does...
