Re: E-M1 Firmware update

I don't remember that either Steve. Just done the second one, and that's the same. It didn't actually lose the AF lens data luckily, it just needed turning on again in the menu :) The menu settings...

Re: Panasonic 100-400 Photo Show saga. Buyers warning.

Very sorry to hear this Phill. Hard to understand how the mount could be made wrong with all the fine tolerances inside the lens. At least the swarf was probably not from the critical butting...

Re: E-M1 Firmware update

I had to update my new 12-100 firmware, so decided to do one of my E-M1s (from 4.3). Wiped the lot including copyright and file prefix. Took an hour to delve into the menus and copy settings from my...

Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

I succumbed Paul, though Wex were out of stock. Coming tomorrow, and I didn't have to lug it around :) Bit cheeky of Wex, they stuck the price on the web up to 1199 very recently while Oly have it...

Re: Photography Show 2019 - Can we manage to meet up this year

Great to catch up for the podcast and on the stand, and nice to chat to Mark again. 12-100 ordered from Wex, arriving tomorrow. They'd run out of show stock!

Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

Curses Ian, with the 12-100 at 899 it's going to be hard to refrain! Nearly down to the HDEW price of 825.

Re: The Photography Show - PODCAST!

I'll be there Monday Ian, but likely to arrive a bit after 11.00, so probably won't be there in time. Will send my number over anyway. Thanks for the prices.

Re: Olympus Workspace - Replacement for OV3

Have you tried cleaning the dust off the cooling fans? With a large build-up, it can cause fan noise, and unbalance them. Same with the rest of the case fans too obviously.

Re: Hands E-M1X on at Brands Hatch

Good to hear from you Mark. The E-M1X is not for me, so I'll leave places for those seriously interested. I hope you do well with it. I'm much more interested in the smaller (and cheaper!) models. At...

Re: The Art of Seeing

Thanks Roger, an inspirational story, and I love the processing technique too. I love your warm toned shots in the cathedral.

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

Did you still have the Panny 12-35 f2.8 when you got the Pen F Paul? I would have thought that would make an equally good pairing. It's been my standard lens for over 6 years, and still amazed by it....

Re: E-M1 Firmware update

I agree early on, there may be something useful that's not declared, but the E-M1 has had it's share of goodies, so it's pretty much in maintenance mode now I think. Shout if I'm missing something...

Re: E-M1 Firmware update

I filled in one of the spreadsheets that someone created, but with a backup E-M1, I find it quicker just to go through all the menus on both and copy manually. Having said that, I've left mine on 4.3...

Re: Is the Nokia 9 a game changer

The 'new' Nokias have always been good value. No idea if they are any good, but they mostly have mid-range specs. This sounds interesting, but the fixed focal length and huge files are probably not...

Re: In praise of Tarkovsky

Arrived this morning thanks Jim, and looks great on my PC. I foolishly tried it my ancient Panasonic DVD player, and it sat chuntering for ever sounding like it was formatting it! I eventually forced...

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

I got a second hand immaculate one back in 2017 for 120, so that's a great price. Mine is the all black plastic one. It's pretty sharp at 12mm, less so at 32mm, but I bought it mainly to turn my old...

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

I got good prices from them years ago on a couple of lenses, but they didn't hold stock. I got them fairly quickly from memory. I don't think they generally hold stock.

Re: In praise of Tarkovsky

Reading the Wikipedia page, it doesn't stick closely to the book, and reminded me of how troubled the filming was. One account said he shot exterior locations for a year before returning to Moscow to...

Re: In praise of Tarkovsky

Thanks Steve, Tarkovsky is one of my favourite directors along with Herzog. Sadly, the book is a bit pricey, but nice to bookmark the web page. There was a season last year on Film4, it was great to...

Re: The Photography Show - free entry for some

Try next year Phill, just some minor embellishment required! Yes, it seems to be full of large blokes with DSLRs + teles bouncing off their ample stomachs *chr :D

Absolutely Steve, I resent paying for things like this. Give it a try, but you need to do it in advance.

Re: The Photography Show - free entry for some

I don't think they are too fussed, I've been getting in for years as a pro, just giving them my Flickr page as a website. Being retired I can safely say I make most of my money from photography (100%...

Re: E-M5 Mark 1 plus HLD6 grip etc

That's my old E-520 I think Phill :D My sister still uses her old E-500, but either it's getting a bit flaky, or she still can't drive it properly! I might suggest she gets a more recent 4/3 body.
