Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Thanks, Mark.

As with any insects, minimising movement near them often gets results. Moving around on your knees, where you have seem hopper activity, and not moving far works well. One you are in...

Re: Ectemnius Cephalotes

Lovely images but the lack of a yellow stripe across the back of the thorax and the striping along the legs, makes me doubt that it is cephalotes. Some of the species are very difficult to separate....

Re: Mistletoe

Our arrangements in Europe are bit more refined, the sticky seeds being wiped off the beaks of the birds. :)

Re: Ruddy Darter Male

Thanks, Phill.

They would work in a Victorian stereo print viewer, if printed out.

Alternatively, have a few beers! *chr

Re: Ruddy Darter Male

I have covered this several times but, anyway:

Keeping the subject centre (or some other feature away from the edge of the frame) in the same position on the screen, two shots are taken,...

Re: Olympus 1.4x Tele Converter EC-14

I have one and the 2x. I use the 2x daily behind my 4/3 50mm f2 macro on my EM-1 and get excellent results. There are lots of my macro images in Foto Fair.

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

Cornicles only come in pairs, no singles. I think I have seen some which were not quite symmetrical.

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

I don't think so. It's antennae have a different segmentation and the proboscis looks designed for sucking sap. I think I can just make out two cornicles on the tail end. Probably an aphid.

Nice...

Re: Fungi

It's a mazegill, possibly Oak Mazegill (Daedalea quercina (L.): Fr.) which is know to infect Eucalyptus. It looks past its best and seems to have some kind of mould on it.

Re: Echinopsis Hybrid Razzle Dazzle (Form)

You are crossing your eyes?

Re: Communal flowers, trees, plants and fungi thread

No. Your brain doesn't like what you are trying to do. Try to be as relaxed and nonchalant as you can and look into the images not at the screen surface. Some images work better for slightly further...

Re: Communal flowers, trees, plants and fungi thread

Welcome to the club. Beware of viewing a single frame after several stereo pairs!

It's more of an angle thing than distance. That makes it work, irrespective of magnification or distance. As I do...

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread
