Re: Sigma 150-600 mm adapted for MFT???

Just for completeness I put the lens on the EM5mk2 and used a monopod to keep the iso down to 640 (1/40 at f8 ...as it is still not very bright today...). This is SAF which is slow on the EM5 but...

Re: Sigma 150-600 mm adapted for MFT???

And just to help a bit more I have taken shots in better weather and have a small album on Flickr.

This is with a budget lens which is OK on the Canon 70D but seems to work better with contrast...

Re: Sigma 150-600 mm adapted for MFT???

I should be able to answer most of your questions. I don't use the Sigma, so will tell you, and show you what I have used.

Firstly adapted lenses work well on the metabones adaptor. I cannot tell...

Re: Lenses: relative length & diameter

There are a couple of crafty lenses designs that were invented around 100 years ago:
Telephoto lenses use a design that allows the lens to be physically shorter than it's focal length. Today the...

Re: Lenses: relative length & diameter

I’ve assumed it’s down to the rise in resolution of sensors, plus the testing regimes of organisations like dxo, which push manufacturers to create more and more exotic lens designs with multiple...

Re: Using hi-power rechargeable AA batteries for flashguns

Purchased two packs of four AA 2900mah from 7dayshop, had them few years now.
In my FL-36, FL-50R and FL-600R, used for weddings, model shoots and general use.
Not been able to fault them, they've...

Re: Using hi-power rechargeable AA batteries for flashguns

The 2900mAh rating only references the capacity of the batteries, not the power output. If they are normal NiMH batteries then the chemistry will be the main factor and that means 1.2V nominal with a...

Re: Advice on choice of large camera/lens storage bag

Have look at the Auer packaging protective Cases, similar to Peli, but much cheaper.

How about something like this

I see lots for sale at the Land Rover events I...

Re: Advice on choice of large camera/lens storage bag

The B&W case I mentioned above is similar to a Peli case, but much cheaper. Being of German manufacture you can rely on the quality.

Re: Advice on choice of large camera/lens storage bag

The first thing that jumps out to me would be a rigid Peli case, but they don'y come cheap.
could you get your kit on one of these?...

Re: Advice on choice of large camera/lens storage bag

I've got one of these

It's a great case and of high quality and extremely strong (I can stand on it!). It's sealed and I...

Re: Filters affecting autofocus speed?

Initially fitted an inexpensive uv filter to my 300mm f4 pro. Felt the front element was too vulnerable to damage, at least until I'd gained confidence handling my new purchase.
Glad I did various...

Re: Olympus 45mm f 1.2 vs PanLeica 42.5mm nocticron

I have that 42.5 and I am enjoying it. I got that long before that 45/1.2 came out an I am sure not in a rush to get any of the f1.2s. I also have that 25/1.4 another reason not rushing for the...

Re: Olympus 45mm f 1.2 vs PanLeica 42.5mm nocticron

I went through the same choice myself a while ago. I agree that most reviews rated the Oly above the Panasonic often pointing to the "improved sharpness, better Bokeh" and "weather sealing". A...

Re: Olympus 45mm f 1.2 vs PanLeica 42.5mm nocticron

I would very much recommend “test and wow” of the 45 f/1.2

I do mostly portrait work and tend to set about the f/3.5 mark. Often models moan about the clarity of my images, saying it shows all...

Re: 12mm lenses...too wide?

For me 12mm is on the limit of being wide enough. I had the 9-18 and wanted wider so got the Panasonic 7-14. Clearly it depends on what you take images of and the look you're trying to achieve. It's...

Re: PanLeica 15mm f1.7 with Pen-F

It's a pitty Olympus won't incorporate the aperture setting read from the lens. The signals are there waiting to be read by the camera. It cannot be a matter of not being bothered adding a few tens...
