Re: Vintage Kit
I guess we must be of similar vintage as I started with a Garrard SP25 as well. Got fed up with it pretty quickly, I think it got replaced with another Garrard with a rather odd name like Module...

Re: Photoshop Ai enhanced RAW
If there is a difference, it looks very marginal to me and I wouldn't like to choose which one was "better". I had a little play with it on files from various cameras and didn't notice any worthwhile...

Re: Sad news about my favouriote airliner
Do they need special infrastructure at the airport to get the passengers (the "self-loading cargo" as Cabin Pressure had it) on and off the two decks at the same time? I imagine that could be quite a...

Re: Didn't see this coming..!!
I think there were some hints in among all the teasers for the new stuff, but we all paid so much attention to the E-M1X and 150-400 that we didn't really clock this. I wasn't too surprised when it...

Re: Correcting perspective
Thanks for trying it Steve. It has done the same thing as PS and LR - adjusted the horizontal lines as well as realigning the verticals so we have the same problem - it it were a photo of a building...

Re: Correcting perspective
Thanks for the comments. Derek, that's a useful comment about increasing the canvas size in PS. It always surprises me how much you seem to need.
The problem as I see it is that all the...

Correcting perspective
Prompted by Paul's (pdk42) series of photos of the Flatiron Building (thread here: http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=49588) and the discussion about comparison of the human eye to a camera...

Re: E-M1X preview sessions
I had a surprise opportunity for a fondle this aftie - Oly man Chris Booth turned up with one at LCE in Salisbury for a couple of hours so I dashed down to see it.
I'm very glad I did. It pretty...

Re: Camera versus The Human Eye
Thanks for the link, Dave, it is an interesting topic.
I think that (unless I missed it of course) the author overlooked something very important, which is our understanding of perspective. I have...

Re: Wex Offer...!
If you are thinking of trading in for an E-M1X, some places are offering an extra £200. I think the offer must be from Oly rather than the vendors as I have seen it several times.

Re: New Flash system
The latest firmware updates for the m43 bodies say "Wireless radiowave commander FC-WR is now supported", which does suggest radio rather than optical communication. But of course if the description...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
I have started a new thread in this same m43 sub-forum (as Ian hasn't set one up for the E-M1X yet) so that anyone who goes and gets their grubby mitts on one at a demo session can give feedback on...

Let's have a new thread so that anyone who goes to one of the hands-on preview sessions for the E-M1X can report back and give opinions on what it is really like.
No reason to stop the...

Re: Guess the iso.
Which raises an interesting question. Is it better to set the camera to, say, ISO 1600 and under-expose, or 3200 and over-expose with the same aperture and shutter speed?

Re: The inner sanctum
Apart from the little bit of sky it is virtually monochrome! But I like the way the blue of the sky complements the yellowy shades of the structure, and we would lose that if it were converted.
