Re: Olympus OM 1n body

David, I've got my brother's black OM2n if that might be of interest? It needs a good clean, but the paint is sound. The shutter seems fine, and the meter runs OK off my X700 batteries (357) which I...

Re: Police stop & ID in U.K. shopping centres?

I was stopped in February at the newly reopened Westgate shopping centre in Oxford by a security guard. It is private property. I thought it was because I looked like I was photographing the...

Re: 40-150mm f3.5-4.5 ZD 4/3 and 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 ZD 4/3

Not really Rebnats. They are 4/3 lenses for the Olympus DSLR bodies, now no longer made. You can use them on Micro 4/3, but need an adapter like the MMF-3, which makes them about 15mm longer. They...

Re: External SSD's

HDDs are fine if you don't rely on one copy, which you shouldn't regardless of the media. A good HDD backup routine will be more effective and cheaper. SSDs have a relatively short life if used...

Good luck with yours! I'm not in a hurry, but no knowing if someone else will sneak in first!

Re: Backpack - again!

The Benro CW200 Cool Walker Backpack may fit the bill. I did a review of it on DPR:

Re: E-M1 Mark II UK introductory events

Ian, I'm not sure you need to book for any of these? I didn't. I went to LCE Reading yesterday, where Chris was helpful, but admitted he wasn't a serious photographer, and only had the 12-40. I tried...

Re: Anyone any experience with smart device car audio?

I wouldn't buy anything now without DAB, or easily upgraded (you need a new aerial). Most new DAB units are also DAB+ compatible too - used in some European countries and maybe here eventually. It's...

Re: Disintegrating Lens Cap and Hood on 12 ~ 40 Pro Lens

I've heard of quite a few doing this sadly. A warranty claim is worth a try, as they are obviously prone to it. I think there was a problem with the type of glue they used.

Re: HDR Projects 4

Give LR and PS a good try first, the merge to HDR does a pretty good job now, particularly on Raws. You can then edit the merged Raw like any other files, but with much greater dynamic range. I...

Re: Sharpness

Don't forget the Clarity slider in LR too, which adds local contrast, and adds punch. It needs balancing against sharpening. The new Dehaze slider can be powerful too, used in moderation.

Re: Best tablet to use with an EM1?

That's a bargain Phill! The main criticism of it is the price, and it's a bit big for most people. It's basically a bigger Note 10.1 2014. Happy Christmas! :)

Re: Best tablet to use with an EM1?

Good point about fingerprints, I'm very fussy about that too, but usually wipe my finger before using it. The Gorilla Glass 3 on the Tab S has an impressive coating which feels silky smooth, and...

Re: Best tablet to use with an EM1?

It's still a lot better than most Phill. It has the same 2560 x 1600 resolution (in a slightly smaller size), and similar processing power and 3GB RAM. Only you can judge. Somewhere like PC World...

Re: Best tablet to use with an EM1?

I avoided tablets till I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 soon after it came out. The screen is stunning, and very high-res. Photos look fantastic, and type is very sharp in browsers. I haven't...

Re: V2.0 + IS + Magnify

It doesn't seem any different to me. I assign Magnify to Fn1. One press brings up the green frame, which can be moved or resized. Another press magnifies to the frame. Another long press dismisses...

NO LONGER WANTED THANKS

Re: LH-61E Lens Hood for Oly 75-300mm II

Thanks Dave. I've got the JJC for my 45mm, which is a fairly poor fit, and I read somewhere that the 75-300 version was stiff, but also from others that it was fine! Any experience of the JJC 75-300...

Re: EM-1 and 4/3 glass first try very dissapointed.

Phill, the manual (p 107) is fairly inadequate. I saved a document from Oly US produced for the E-30 documenting the procedure properly. It still stands for the E-M1. I don't think it's still...

Re: EM-1 and 4/3 glass first try very dissapointed.

Phill, hold down the assigned button to get rid of the magnify box. (I think the rear dial changes the size.) You do need vertical lines to get the best out of this first generation OSPDAF.

I was...

Re: Does "Record Mode" determine the quality of RAW files?

Raw is Raw, so unaffected by JPG settings. If the XZ2 is like the E-M5, look in menu Cog G Pixel (diamond symbol) / Color / WB, go down to Pixel Set. This allows you to enable different sizes and...

Re: Zoom on liveview not working

Tordan, Cog B Button/Dial, and choose what you want to set to what. You can set it to other buttons, but you need to decide your overall plan first. You really do need to read the manual :)
