Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

The IMF has released a forecast showing they expect the UK to have the joint-fastest GDP growth among European countries in the G7 nations in both 2019 and 2020. This is a significant upgrade from...

Re: total lunar eclipse on Sunday / Monday morning

The infinity setting on lenses is only approx so not good enough for lunar shots.
Most lenses allow you to even go past the infinity symbol on the dial.

Re: total lunar eclipse on Sunday / Monday morning

If someone could guarantee no clouds I might (well maybe might) just get up.
But, on thinking about it I will pass, beds too comfy and warm.

Re: Political: Time for the little guy ?

If you had a free choice and a magic wand, which country in the world would you prefer to live in?
Assuming your family would be there as well if you wanted that.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Certainly not if it gives the same result, it will be best of 5

But if the result is a 1 person majority for remain that's it done deal no arguments.

Re: Political: Time for the little guy ?

Looking at the poll we did a while back I think the majority here may be retired or about to retire. Yes, they might not up to date with the latest X-Factor winner, or what the top game download is...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

The beat of advancing technology goes faster every year. Is it realistic these days to buy some technology and expect it to retain its value for 14 years? A digital camera body certainly not IMHO. ...

Re: Political: Time for the little guy ?

Likewise, For once I agree with you.

The big guys will buy out any possible competition from little guys and that's always. been the case. In fact, that's what a lot of little guys hope for.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

A Nikon D810 FF body only weighs 880gm. !

The EM1X is just too big and heavy for me.

I will pass on this one. Hope some of the tech filters down.

Apparently, the EM1-mk2 is about to get a...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Thanks for posting a sample image.
I see that it connects to Lightroom, what is the RAW format that the P20 pro uses. I also am tempted to upgrade from my ancient Galaxy S3 mini which I never use...

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Just seeing what impact iso had. I normally use base iso 200
Keeps me occupied in the dark nights. I will stick to that going forward.

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Just had another go tonight. Handheld again but this time iso3200, 1/4000th sec, f/5.6. used my 300mm + MC-14. Stacked best 20 out of 60 shots. Eased off somewhat on the deconvolution this time. ...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Agree with most of your points.

Would love to see someone post a bird in flight shot taken with a manual film camera, that must have been very hard to do.

The whole point of the never-ending...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I don't think the Brexit voters see anything specifically different than people in other member countries. They were asked and they gave their answer simple as that. They wanted those in power to...

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

According to the latest YouGov leadership polling Theresa May – is tied with ‘Don’t Know’ on 38% for who would make the best Prime Minister.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Labour MP Mike Gapes tweeted this today.

"Apparently Corbyn is prepared to hold talks with Hamas, Hezbollah, Assad, and Iran without preconditions. But not with the UK Prime Minister. Why ?"

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Well spotted! I agree its overdone.

With the recent discussions on here about high ISO I thought I would try a moonshot at iso1600. This is 10 shots handheld at iso1600 preprocessed in PIPP and...
