Try repeating your test with Image Stabilizer = Off.
It is possible that your mikes are picking up the "fizzing" noise which can be heard when the IS is working.

Have you checked you are not picking up mains hum which at times manifests itself as a hiss?

m4/3 is supposed to be smaller than regular 4/3 which was supposed to be smaller than competitive crop systems and FF.

For me its a case of, smallest centre point, SAF (or if its really difficult background, SAF +MF)...
