Comparative test as promised. These are taken from an FP4 negative (shot 40 years ago) and scaled to the same size (5K pixels on the longest side)....

Don't waste your time with outdated Olympus or Microsoft codecs - I thoroughly recommend the Fast Picture Viewer codec pack which MJ224 suggested - it is cheap, it works really well with any raw file...
