I seem to remember someone simple removing the electronics and direct wiring the pins. That way you maintain the electrical functions but camera does not realise that extra extension tube was there....

Camera has had one trip to Portugal to get grip sorted. Was about to cough up to get it hot shoe problem sorted now it seems it might get another free trip.

As a 4/3 user I am obviously looking for continued support for these lenses as they still compliment the M43.

To my mind V3 firmware did improve things with 43 lenses ( 50-200 is now useable with c-af ). However the non cross type focus points are still limiting factor both in direction and dynamic range....

I had same problem, after one trip out in rain it came off completely so had it fixed under warranty and they also cleaned it. A 7 day turn around.

There is an old E-M1 thread called "camera Setup" where a number of settings were discussed and it lists which menus settings are in.

Gear D, Flicker Reduction OFF this stops the aperture...

Ian, would suggest you check;
- C-AF early release is on.
- Flicker reduction is off
- Face detect is off.
- Shutter release to short.

You don't say if you are using flash or not, if you are...

The description that has been made about C-AF+TR on the E-M1 by others, including Ian is;

"I may be wrong but I thought that CAF Tr is more for focusing and then re composing and it works...

To be brutal Tracking simply does not work and uses processing resources best used elsewhere.

Let me phrase it this way, when you hear the beep initial focus has been achieved.

There have been various threads on this topic and the basic rule to get best out of C-AF is switch off as much other items as possible.

So C-AF with single point. Do NOT use tracking.
