Re: Remote flash triggering (again)

I have often used the clip on accessory flash to trigger my FL-600R flash units and it works very well.

There are essentially two ways to use off camera flash with the little clip on job;

1....

Re: The 50-200mm Shines Again!

Oh, I can fix that problem for you. :D

Thanks for the kind words. Actually one of my guests from a few years ago taught me about the Auto-ISO method when I was still shooting with Nikon. He shot...

Re: The 50-200mm Shines Again!

Here are a few of the promised shots of the same lion in the series above, but where I had the 1.4x TC on. I was amazed at how good the combo is.

Re: The 50-200mm Shines Again!

Thanks so much, Phill! I have had a fair amount of opportunity to practice though. :)

I'm a bit of a non-conformist when it comes to shooting technique. I only ever shoot in A mode, never use...

Re: The 50-200mm Shines Again!

Unfortunately I don't have side-by side comparisons of the same things as I didn't take both lenses along on the same safaris at the same time. However, when I look at the shots that I got on my...

Re: The 50-200mm Shines Again!

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I will try and add some others soon, but also look out for my Instagram feed - I post one on there every day.

Re: The 50-200mm Shines Again!

Dave, the 40-150/2.8 PRO with 1.4x TC is not great on safari. I wrote about this a few years ago when I took it with me to the Chobe and Sabi Sands. I was very disappointed with them. That lens is...

The 50-200mm Shines Again!

Well, if ever I needed confirmation that the best Olympus lens for an African safari is the 50-200/2.8-3.5 SWD it came from the pics I got at our trip this year. Thanks to the generous advice from...

Re: My E-M1 videos

Unfortunately the 40-150 was not mine, it was on loan, so I didn't have it long enough to make an in-depth study of where its sweetness began to turn sour. I do think that used with closer subjects...

Re: My E-M1 videos

yes, definitely better in that regard. I found the 40-150mm nervous in the bokeh department. Not always, but often enough to put me off it. If you remove the tripod collar and hood from the 50-200mm...

Re: My E-M1 videos

I had borrowed the 40-150/2.8 from Olympus. To be honest, I think the older 50-200mm is a much better lens for safaris. Better range, better bokeh, better sharpness.

Re: My E-M1 videos

I believe these would have been a combination of 50-200mm 2.8-3.5 and 40-150mm 2.8 PRO. There might have been some other lenses in the mix for the closer stuff, most likely the 12-40/2.8 PRO.

Re: Safari photos - 2016

I really liked the 40-150/2.8 PRO at a wedding I did with it last year, and yes, the bokeh isn't the greatest. It's not bad, per sť, kind of similar to a nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 I had a long time ago. I...

Re: Safari photos - 2016

Thanks very much for your kind words. :)

Yes, our groups usually bring a lot of hardware. This year we had mostly Nikon users. The most popular lens on this safari has always been the Nikon...

Re: South Africa

Willom, if you have 4 days available, for the best photography experience you may want to look at Phinda or Zimanga private game reserves. They are close to Hluhluwe/iMfolozi. I have a group of 3...

Re: Safari photos - 2016

Thanks all!

@iso, I have held onto the 50-200mm because it is more me a much better lens than the 40-150mm. AF might be a bit less compelling, but it works for me.

Re: Export GPS log file from OIS?

Thanks Maccabeej! I was trying to use the share button from within each log file itself and not having any luck, but selecting the tracks from the list and then sharing worked. :)

Re: Export GPS log file from OIS?

Where do you find the option to email the .log file? This is what I need to do if I want to geotag the images in Lightroom.

Re: Export GPS log file from OIS?

So if I understand this correctly it isn't importing the images to iPhone but it uses the wifi connection to write to the files on the SD card in the camera? If so, I'm still screwed since I format...
