Re: Large gear rucsack

For my Kenya trip in August Iíve decided to stick with my ďOsprey roll-on and Mindshift in the hold bagĒ arrangement, since the people Iím going with (Wild-Eye) charter whole bush planes for their...

Re: E-M5 mk iii - same sensor as E-M1ii ?

Screens are very personal, and I do appreciate that, so there's no doubt that a flip-or-fold-out screen like some of the Fujis have is the best of both worlds (as long as it doesn't make the whole...

Re: E-M5 mk iii - same sensor as E-M1ii ?

I've grown to appreciate fully flippy screens for street photography - it sure as hell makes portrait format images easier. It doesn't bother me either way these days. I agree it makes the visual...

Re: E-M5 mk iii - same sensor as E-M1ii ?

As long as it's the same size as the 5ii and has CA focusing abilities as good or better than the 1ii, it may well be on mine. Absolutely ideal compact street and travel tool if it does.

Re: Large gear rucsack

Great, many thanks. I see thereís a slightly larger one in the range thatís within the size limits too.
Those also tick pretty much all the boxes, so Iíll see if I can find them to try.

Firmware 3.0 for dragonflies

Walti and I visited a local farm's wildlife area yesterday, Paul clutching his shiny new MC-20 and me with freshly-loaded firmware.

The reserve has several large, muddy & reedy pools, which are...

Re: Ruddy Darter Male

Well, I've certainly seen some really nice images taken like that by others: I can't yet comment on insects, but I've had some OK results with flowers & unfurling leaves handheld in gentle breezes.

Re: Large gear rucsack

I should add that, until now, when traveling on long photo-related hols I've taken all my photo and other key items in a semi soft-sided, ultralight Osprey wheeled cabin bag. I protect the photo gear...

Re: Ruddy Darter Male

Lovely images, Harold.

As you so rightly say, many dragonfly images are spoiled by complex & highlit backgrounds and, depending on individual preference, by limited depth of field (or, rather, by...

Re: New MC 20 announced.

He's not a native English speaker, of course.

I *think* he means it'll fit in the space that would be taken by a sort-of 35mm f3.5 lens (although I'd just have chosen an example from the existing...

Large gear rucsack

I'm looking for a large photo rucksack for some specific purposes, and am looking for any comments and suggestions. I've never used a big photo bag before.

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

Yes, for sure I could, but actually I like the new option to be able to use the EVF immediately by just putting the camera up to my eye rather than fiddling round to find the button. Anyway, it’s...

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

Thanks for that. Interesting and useful.

I suspect CAF performance with the 3x3 cluster will be better than the 5x5 as long as long as you can keep the smaller group on the target. So time spent...

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

So far the only potential negative I've encountered has been the altered behaviour of the EVF-screen eye detect switch. I do most of my street photography with the screen flipped out (looking down,...

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

Cracking shot, Ron.

May I ask about your settings there - CAF alone, how many focus points, lock setting? Also, what drive FPS?

I had an hour shooting dragonflies amid water and reeds, and...
