Re: EM1 Mk2 USB cable

Should do, it is just a USB-C slot.

In fact, I'm sure I've used a generic USB-C cable on mine as the original is still in the box and I've done the firmware update.

Re: Interesting article about EM1 Mk2

As the saying goes, the most important part of a camera is the 12" behind it, which this article ably demonstrates - it is fantastic photography from someone who clearly understands light.

Re: Sarong Kabaya...

From Wiki:

The aim is not simply to present summaries of national histories, but to look at important historical phenomena from a transnational and European perspective

Sounds like an...

Re: EM1 Mk1 vs Mk2

The venerable Nikon D700 was 'only' 12.2 and that was lauded as the best sensor for a loooong time. It's funny, I remember at the time of getting a D700 it truly was amazing and my memories of it...

Re: EM1 Mk1 vs Mk2

That assumes the same generation of technology, which these aren't.

My experience mirrors Pauls, the sensor is better and I also find slightly better colour retention in shadows on the mk2.

Re: Iona Fisher - first such attempt

Good efforts.

The white balance is way off though, you can do something about that as she is fully lit by the same colour light, it only gets tricky if there are different colour lights at the...

Re: Oly 40-150mm Pro

The 40-150 is my favourite lens and covers pretty much everything I need, if I could have only one lens it would be this (main usage of travel and landscape).

I also have the 100-400 and it is...

Re: Umbrellas

Well, the answer would be to take an interesting shot in the first place.

The key things, for me, the OP said was 'Iceland' and 'crawling with Japanese tourists', this photo says neither of those...

Re: Time to say goodbye ?

You probably need a DSLR for your shooting (having watched and read the tribulations for a looong time) but you probably don't need the D500, anything this side of a D7000 would do what you need and...

Re: Delay before I can take the next shot

This is entirely un-necessary as unless you are filling the buffer the memory card speed makes little difference. I occasionally use cards even slower than this and in general use they are fine.

Re: E-M10 Mk 2 battery life

The thing about all mirrorless cameras is that they don't really work on 'number of shots" but more 'time switched on'.

If you've had the camera switched on for large swathes of the time it will...

Re: 25mm (50 FF)

FoV of a normal lens is actually rather different to the human eye, it's the perspective that is similar.

I rather like a normal lens, I find the images very easy to view which can be ideal for...

Re: More UWA photos

Tree for me too, it's the only one where UWA seems appropriate (and maybe the sphinx).

I think the others would have been better without UWA, for example the rose and cottage could have been...

Re: 17mm f1.2

It's funny, I just don't get 35mm (FFE) focal length - just find it difficult to see a shot - much prefer 50mm or 28mm.

Strangely though, I always like the shots I end up taking at that focal...

#1 for me, fab! #2 looks very archangel too.

Shame about the others being OOF, have you played with the loose-tight setting at all?

Re: Locronan, Brittany

The first works nicely enough but second shot is fab, I can imagine the rest of the church, and maybe its history, just by the small bit you are showing and the composition of that bit is good and...

Re: Path to beach

I like that, and prefer the colour version and the tone of it, good crop too.

It makes me want to walk over the dune and find out what's on the other side, that I want to interact with it is a...

Re: Birds and the Bees or rather Flowers and the Bees

One of the perpetual challenges of macro photography is getting enough DoF to get enough of the subject in focus. 'Bokeh' for the sake of bokeh is not really a good thing.

You have succeeded in...

Re: L-Fn shifts S-Af - C-Af

It's my last bugbear of Oly cameras, that many functions can't be toggled with switches (exposure mode would be handy, as would AF) and everything has to be presets or the SCP.

Re: First thoughts 12-100 Pro

For me the better IS and extra stop at the long end would be more helpful than an extra 50mm, 150mm isn't really long enough for when you want proper long anyway so I would be happy to just accept...

Re: First thoughts 12-100 Pro

Those aliens are called Cardoons :)

This is my concern about the lens, that it is just a bit big, but then a lot of the time I have the 40-150 pro attached without much concern...

Re: Panasonic 100-400

Lots of people complained about this when it was launched, most ended up getting them replaced and saying the new version was much improved.

Mine is fine, a little rough maybe and now way near as...
