Re: LX100 or GM5 Body

I had a GM5 briefly. I loved the size, and I hated the size. It was great for being highly portable, but it was just too fiddly to use as a proper camera. Quite a technological triumph, but...

Re: Prohibited items

Seens that "Machines" are prohibited. With that restriction in place they could reduce the rest of the list by 80%.

Re: LX100 or GM5 Body

I'd recommend you be careful buying the LX100 used. I bought one and found that it would not reliably focus on anything beyond a few metres away. I tried everything - all the AF modes, MF, Image...

Re: Stacking in camera, some lenses will, some won't...why is that?

Yes, I think this is the reason. It's called focus breathing. I assume that the camera needs lens data to mathematically scale the images to stack them.

Re: Pen-F owners, tell me the truth.

My view of essential settings:

- Anti-shock 0s
- SCP on
- Raw (or raw + JPEG if you insist :))
- Blinkies (over- and under-exposure warnings)
- Decouple focus from shutter button (aka...

Re: Wedding of the Year - so excited I can hardly wait

Apparently there's a wedding in Windsor soon where the bride and bridegroom, despite being insanely rich, have invited people and told them to bring their own food and drink. Amazing!

Re: Pen-F owners, tell me the truth.

Analysed at its componentry level it's hard to justify the Pen F's price. It shares a lot of its internals with the E-M10ii, but it adds the 20Mp sensor and improved IBIS in a body with a...

Re: London Skyline

Yes, you're right. Point light sources will indeed leave a trail. However, shutter shock isn't usually of such a large amplitude as on your shot. Confusing - as you say

Re: I want to go back!

Ian - you'd soon get bored of the sunshine, the beaches, the emerald-blue waters, the clear blue skies, the easy living and the lack of a 9-5. Count yourself lucky that you don't need to put up with...

Re: London Skyline

Anti-shock will make no difference for exposures longer than about 1/25s. The shock induced by the shutter dies down within about 20ms so any movement will happen in a very small % of the exposure...

Re: Fish eye v Wide angle

If you can justify it, the Oly 8mm f1.8 FE is an amazing lens. AF is actually a useful addition. For landscapes the DOF will be enormous, but this isn't the case when shooting closer.

The nice...

Steve - I always like your work; but really, just how important is it that the output is produced entirely with "the authenticity of film"? I mean, images need to stand and speak for themselves. No...
