Re: Vintage Kit

I remember building a Cockroft-Walton multiplier from a Wireless World (or Practical Electronics) design using a couple of OC81s driving a tiny mains transformer (must have been backwards) and a...

Re: Show Your Snowdrop Pictures

I didn't see any signs of bluebell leaves at Welford Park, and have never seen them together with snowdrops. I wonder if they're mutually exclusive (though they seem to share the same soil types)?

Re: Olympus 1.4 mc 14

I've removed screws that were similarly locked by judiciously applying the tip of a small soldering iron to soften the compound. It's always worked for me.

Traditionally shellac was used as a...

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

A couple of years ago I saw a morpho flying around in the New Forest. It was obviously an escape. It was a wonderful sight seeing it flying free!

Re: Olympus 1.4 mc 14

If the replacement screw is too long, don't forget to put a nut on it before you cut it down, chamfer and deburr it.

Re: Show Your Snowdrop Pictures

Went to Welford Park on the 14th.

Many thanks for the tip-off, I'd never heard of it and my partner was delighted!

Re: Topaz: Process JPEG as RAW

Re: Resolution and Image Quality

I'd give it 90% - the poses of the standing figures are stiff and unnatural, but then it was pretty much the style in those times.

My own taste is mainly for Turner, Pre-Raphaelites, Glasgow Boys...

Re: Age-Related Difficulties
