Re: Hummingbird Hawk Moth

I haven't seen one back in our garden since I took these shots, the weather's been a bit hit and miss I guess.

Tranquillity

This image is a little different to those I normally take, I find it quite peaceful.

Re: Would you like your fish battered Ma'am?

Thanks Chris.

I've done the same, watched a perch they usually land on only to find them landing some distance away, keep trying.

I took these Kingfisher images earlier this year but didnít update my Flickr page until recently.

Re: Staffa, Lunga and wide angle Puffins.

Thank you.

The camera and lens were closer to the Puffins than I was when I took these shots.

I was lying on my stomach with the camera at full extension of my arm, I used the screen to compose...

Re: Otter Encounters

Thank you, they really do reflect the light when wet, at times the camera struggled to lock onto them.

Staffa, Lunga and wide angle Puffins.

During our stay on Mull, we took a trip to the Isle of Lunga, making a short stop on the way to view Fingalís cave.

Lunga is a beautiful little island and is a haven for sea birds, especially...

Re: Otter Encounters

I couldn't believe it when he started to walk towards me, I didn't think he was going to stop.

I was crouched behind a rock so I suspect it was the camera and lens he was looking at, he just...

Otter Encounters

During our stay on Mull, we spent some time looking for Otters.

We managed a few encounters, mostly at a distance however, one particular dog Otter seemed determined to have a good look at the...

Re: Hummingbird Hawk Moth

Thanks Ron,

I suspect there are a reasonable number around however, they're not easy to spot.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Valerian really does attract them.

Re: Hummingbird Hawk Moth

We planted Valerian in our garden last year, specifically to attract these, it worked.

I've been told they're also attracted to Honeysuckle.

Re: MC-20 with 300mm Images

Thank you.

These images were taken at a distance of approximately 12 to 15 metres, I did take images at a greater distance however, due to heat haze they lost detail.

Hummingbird Hawk Moth

I spotted this in our garden on Wednesday, a Hummingbird Hawk Moth.

They donít half move quickly and they donít stay for long.

Taken with an E-M1 II, 300mm Pro lens and MC-14.

MC-20 with 300mm Images

I spent an hour or so testing the MC-20 attached to my E-M1 II and 300mm Pro lens.

I was quite pleased with the results and think the MC-20 will have its uses.

Re: White-tailed Eagle

I agree, the IQ from both lenses is excellent, I think the 300mm Pro just pips the Panasonic in most situations though.

Anita initially chose the Panasonic 100-400mm instead of a 300mm however,...

Re: Going Nowhere...........

I think the UK has one of the highest tidal ranges in the world Ross.

People regularly get caught out by how quickly the tide comes in here, often ending in tragedy.
