Re: Exposure Latitude

Thank you Mal. So it isn't just my imagination then?

I would be interested to understand how this works.

Re: Photography course information...

Thinking about it, the bias in this course is not unusual, and I have certainly come across it elsewhere.

For example, there are distance learning courses for marine surveyors punctuated by...

Re: Photography course information...

Yes indeed. In truth there are very few bad products today, but what we buy, how much we pay and our perceptions of products are all down to clever marketing.

Just think about our perceptions of...

Re: Exposure Latitude

If you are really keen, you can buy hand-coated glass slides for 5 x 4 and full plate cameras. Being hand made I would imagine you could have anything you liked within reason.

Re: Photography course information...

I would say the author is talking out of his derriere!

Of course the Four Thirds and µ43 systems have their limitations, but to say "there’s not even a good telephoto lens available yet and no...

Re: So who's going to enforce it?

I would love to see the drones negotiate the overhead electricity cables in our village.

At least the McDonald's meal deal wouldn't be delivered cold. :D

Re: So who's going to enforce it?

The altitude may well be possible, but at least nine miles from land?

Re: So who's going to enforce it?

I wonder whether the Pilot had been visiting one of those funny 'cake' shops they have in Amsterdam?

Re: So who's going to enforce it?

It'll be like Sunday afternoons when the lawnmower symphony starts, with solo parts by strimmers, hedge cutters electric drills and pressure washers. :(

Regarding the drone report, I think...

Re: So who's going to enforce it?

Well it seems there could be a solution.

BBC Report - Drone flying at 9,000 feet (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-48352513)

If, as reported, drones can fly at 9,000 feet plus, and...

Re: Gmail Tracks Your Purchase History

My understanding is that using In Private browsing effectively makes you invisible to the web servers in question, so you can request data but no other information is divulged.

I often book train...

Re: Gmail Tracks Your Purchase History

There are two ways of looking at it. If your data is useful to the hosting company they will keep it. If it has no value they will delete it.

If you stop paying for iCloud or MS OneDrive you are...

Re: Fancy taking photos with a 90 year old camera

From what I can see it takes film of 5" x 4" or thereabouts. There are four or five film holders with the camera which keep the film dark before and after exposure. I would imagine you could also...

Re: My M1.2 has a New Wide Eye

Very impressive Mark. The fisheye provides a totally different perspective.

Out of interest, was this taken on an XPT train? It looks very similar to our Mk 3 carriages.

Re: Exposure Latitude

Yes and no. There doesn't seem to be any easy explanation but my observations are that bigger formats provide consistently greater exposure latitude.

It does occur to me that the image on (say) a...

Exposure Latitude

I have always felt that larger formats provide greater exposure latitude than small formats such as 35 mm. This seems to be true of both film and digital photography, but particularly film.

If I...

Re: No Oly cameras or lenses

Not if you make the pilgrimage to By Beauly in Inverness-shire (IV4 7BQ). :D

The train journey up there is also very enjoyable.
