Re: Scottish Crossbill

Amazing how the colouring blends in so well with the pine cones. Nice shot of a pine tree as well.

Even the middle of nowhere is somewhere. In this case it is on the A939 in the Cairngorms. The scenary is fantastic and there are very few people which makes it even better. We couldn't stop as it...

Re: It's OK the camera is waterproof!

The water drops give some context to the flat and otherwise boring sky. Keep it.

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

There are 2 pressure sensors in the DPF (pre and post) and the difference in the reading triggers the regeneration when it gets too high (assuming the other factors you mention are met). Alas there...

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

I must disagree. It is the excess fuel pumped into the cylinders to be burnt in the DPF. Some of it slips past the oil rings to contaminate the sump. This happens regardless of whether the...

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

It doesn't! That is why the engine service light comes on every 4 or 5k miles (sometimes somewhat less) rather than the 20K in the book. It counts the number of regenerations and then just switches...

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

Back to the cars and I have been told to only top the oil up to the 3/4 mark to allow space for fuel contamination during regeneration. The oil level rises between oil changes!

Re: Cheap Defence trick

They built mock up tanks during the war. Why not mock up aircraft. This could be the only one left.

Re: Swansea Tram Museum

I like the photos in spite of the reflections. I have found that a polarizing filter helps... but only marginally.

Re: The Peugeot Diesel Pollutant Saga

You need to use a low ash low sulphure oil with DPF engines... so they don't get blocked as quickly. Around town my engine does a regeneration every 150 miles. Every 5 or so regenerations it decides...
