Re: Flickr Sold To SmugMug

Smugmug is a subscription service, starting at 3.99 US$ per month. I suspect Flickr will go the same way. However, I use my account for storage and hosting and as such I would not wish to subscribe....

Re: Monthly comp Bridges

I'll need to change the sensor for colour... maybe a roll of Ektar. With the right light it's capable of producing 'robust' colours.

Re: About to buy a Pen-F

When you say 'movement' I think we need to be careful with our words. All particles in nature (unless massless particles exist, and yes I'm familiar with E=MC^2) have momentum when in motion. The...

Re: Toy Aeroplane

Thank you Athena.
I was trying to finish a roll of film, so picked this scene to help; 72 frames can be a bonus and a curse! I was using the 70mm f2 (the Pen F has a 1.4 crop, making it equivalent...

Re: About to buy a Pen-F

I suspect you're looking at the Pen F or Pen FT half frame, but 60 is likely to buy a heap of junk.
Here's my Pen FT complete with 40mm f/1.4. Add another naught and you're getting closer to the...

Re: Toy Aeroplane

It's some form of memorial to the bombing of Liverpool, particularly the docks, during WW2; strange for it to depict a German aeroplane.

Rules, rules rules. There are no rules. The only rule is to ignore the rules.

Re: The Desk

Personally I think the outside should be subordinate to the main subject, and well done too.

Here's me thinking digital will never catch-on, but I could be wrong!

Re: Four reasons why film photography is stupid

David,
For colour Portra 160 of 400 are highly recommended - really nice colours and phenomenal tolerance to exposure, -1 to + 4 stops. Ektar is also recommended for nice colour pop.

For B&W...

Re: Four reasons why film photography is stupid

I would add that the primary determinant is the lens. The camera body is nothing more than a light box with a method of regulating the shutter opening.

Ansel Adams once said the negative is the...

Re: Night lights photo question

Spot meter the high lights, and, remembering the lightmeter is in fact a grey meter, adjust the exposure to 'artistic' (cough) taste, eg open +1 +1 1/2 or +2 stops. It all depends how you, the...
