Re: Mountain Hares - Cairngorms
Dave these are brilliant. I'm heading up to Aviemore for a few days next week and mountain hares are on my wishlist (along with ptarmigan, cresties and Black grouse). We used to have mountain hares...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread
It does seem a very blinkered approach. Crossbills certainly appear to like Norway spruce in particular, but most of our local commercial plantations (and there are a lot of them) are Sitka spruce...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread
We went with Kilda Cruises from Leverburgh Mark. Great set of guys, fast boat (still took nearly three hours to get out and back) but definitely a bit lumpy. Four hours ashore, plenty of time to...

Re: Scotland. Advice please.
You can take wildlife watching boat trips from Oban or Clachan Seil to visit the Corryvreckan whirlpool - well worth it provided you're not prone to sea-sickness.
Skye is actually quite a long drive...

Re: Looking for heads up on Photospecialist
I very recently bought a new camera bag from Photospecialist and had no problems at all - good price, prompt delivery. I haven't had to return anything so I can't comment on that aspect of the...

Re: Wasdale passing Squall
Lovely dramatic set Alf. Have to agree with OMUSer - the letterbox crop works really well for me, but I also love the detail in the curtains of rain in that last one.

Re: Aurora Borealis 06-03-2016
Brilliant shots Iain! I thought our display down here was impressive, but yours looks even more spectacular. I can't remember ever seeing such an intense red colour before.
Can I ask what camera...

Aurora 6.3.16
Mother's Day produced the best aurora of the winter. It started off as a green glow in the north before escalating to a green/red/mauve/purple spectacular, and all at a nice reasonable time of the...

Lovely set Alf. #2 for me (especially like your first crop) epitomises the Lake District weather!

Re: The Great Orion Nebula M42 early attempts
Many thanks for this John. I have found it extraordinarily difficult to get down level with the viewer to get the Pole star in view, so your use of an angled viewfinder looks like an ideal solution -...

Very nice Iain, especially the first one. Can I ask what white balance setting you used?

Beautiful Alf - the pastel shades and swirling patterns are beautiful. Amongst your best I'd say.
Did you manage to catch last night's aurora?
