Re: 12-40

Why a 12-40 and a 12-100? Well, it's all about bag size and what I'll be doing with the camera. The short version is simply that the 12-100 is great when I have the luxury of space, but for...

Re: Suggestions - suitable bag for larger lenses

Rob just looked at the images in that link and unless there is a new change to the bag the camera section doesn't come out as a separate insert on mine. Everything else seems to be the same just the...

Re: Suggestions - suitable bag for larger lenses

I've had Lowepro bags for several years now and been very impressed. Unfortunately they don't do one now that quite suited me so I spent a lot of time looking elsewhere. I eventually found this. As I...

Re: E-m1 (classic) won't start - clicking

I hope you E-M1 is fixed soon :)

Sounds a good move to me. I never got on with Epson printers - they seemed to prioritise their own ideas over the user! For example, they would suddenly...

Re: E-m1 (classic) won't start - clicking

Sounds exactly the same as what finished my E-M1 - it tipped me into buying a Mk.ii.

Look into the front of the camera - is the shutter closed over the sensor?

Re: E-m1 (classic) won't start - clicking

Shutter failure is my uneducated guess.

I had similar with my EPL 5. Not too expensive to repair, 99 in my case several years ago. Worth fixing if you value the camera....*chr

Re: Nothing new from Olympus at Photokina, but...

The problem with the in-camera stacking modes Rob is that the end result is only JPEG. You can get much better results if you set the camera up to do a burst of bracketed shots in RAW and then stack...

Re: silent shutter - underexposure

Rob,
Light is a tricky thing! It sounds like the situation is EV 4 or 5 at a guess. I would consider using an incident lightmeter and maybe comparing with a spot reading whilst exposing for shadows....

Re: Help - random exposures from E-M1

It doesn't matter that you didn't alter the aperture, between each exposure the diaphragm reverts to maximum aperture (or should do, unless it is sticking). Then, when you take the next shot, it...

Re: Help - random exposures from E-M1

I note that others have suggested a sticky diaphragm on the 12-60, which could well be the case. The camera body does, however, need to know the aperture of the lens, while other information, such...
