Re: Has Theresa May shot herself in the foot

This is how people communicate with their Banks online. Get rid of one and the other will be compromised (won't bother me - I don't use online banking)

Unhappy Re: Pensions. Can I speak to a human please!

I had one (1973 7 seat Station Wagon with Safari Roof) for 25 years. It got stolen :( It would have comprehensively failed its next MOT - rotten chassis. I got a really generous insurance payout...

Re: Few from Oxford using the F

I only managed a snatched snapshot of New College Chapel last year. Have they taken down the prominent "No Photography" signs. I must go back - it is a stunning building.

It always strikes me as...

Re: Wood Anemones

I think they are probably Anemone blanda rather than Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa). A wonderful harbinger of Spring which seeds itself around but not in a weedy way.

Very nice shot.

Re: Juvenile Goldfinch

If it's anything like the ones on my feeders it is - eat one chuck two on the ground, eat one chuck two on the ground... repeat until full.

Re: Paradise in the British Isles?

You may be spared! I'm sure that I read that they have discontinued the Helicopter service blaming cuts.

Re: Jay Close Up

Superb shots. The 75-300 looks a real winner.

Never saw a Jay in our garden for the first 30 years I lived here but over the last 5 years or so they have moved into our area (a mile or so from...

Re: And Now For Something Completely Different....

Isn't the duck a female Goosander? She has a large brood anyway. Nice shot of unseemly panic.

Re: Food Riot

A wonderful picture, Andrew.

A chance would be a fine thing. I haven't had a Sparrow or a Starling in the garden (inner suburbs of Manchester) for years. My thuggish squabblers are the...

Re: Unknown Succulent Plant?

Yes - definitely double flowered Kalanchoes.

Google "Kalanchoe"+"double flowers" exactly as written (with the quotes) and there are pictures.

You might get away with growing them outside but...

Re: The antics of a Young Noisy Minor.

Funny old life isn't it - in the UK, Indian Hill Mynas are a cherished pet which people teach to talk. They can develop a large vocabulary and are very intelligent. A long time ago, in my cage-bird...

Re: First photo of the Autumn season

I think that looks much better. From the OoC I can see your drift though - anything to conquer the grey sky of doom!

Of course, you could have gone back on one of the brilliant days we have had...

Re: First photo of the Autumn season

Isn't the real problem the strange lilac cast in the sky?

I live very close and don't remember seeing it this colour recently, just good old Manchester grey :D:D. (I don't think it is my iMac as I...

Re: A loyal servant

Down boy!

Unfortunately, my daughter was one when we acquired the cat . She has since become a somewhat more well-rounded person but they have never really "bonded". If they had been forced...

Re: A loyal servant

It applies to cats as well. Our Squeak was a rescue cat and we have had her for over 13 years. She has only just grown out of running away and hiding under the furniture when ever anyone female, slim...

Re: Help with ID please

Many thanks for your efforts anyway Ross.

I do wish people would be better about labelling in gardens which are open to the public. The place was full of unusual things but you come away none the...

Re: After the rain

I think the first 2 are Alchemilla mollis and the other 2 are Hypericum androsaemum (common name Tutsan).

Nice shots, particularly of the Hypericum in No 4

Re: 70-300mm round the garden today

Are you sure that no. 9 isn't Comfrey . Pulmonaria is usually a flatter, more open flower (not so tubular).
