Re: EM 1 Mk 1 Body

I have two bodies - one with the 12-100 and the other the 100-400. That covers just about everything. I also have an EM5 (40-150) and an EM10 (14-42EZ) so I'm not sure what you're worrying about!

Re: The Painted Hall

When it was still a Naval College I did a one term course there in 1967. We dined in the Painted Hall every day and you can't get more impressive surroundings than that. The chapel is also...

Re: New MC 20 announced.

It will be interesting to see what the UK price is. 450 is about twice what HDEW have an MC14 for.

Re: HLD9 for EM1ii

I seldom use my EM1i or EM5ii without their battery grips. It's all down to personal preference. A grip certainly helps with longer/heavier lenses.

Re: Zuiko 300mm PRO glitch

Like the others I also set the focus limiter to the range I expect to use. It's one of the irritants of the 100-400 that there are only two focus limit options rather than three.

Re: 12-100 or 12-200?

My 12-100 is rarely off the camera these days and has totally supplanted the 12-40/2.8 and the Panasonic 35-100/2.8, not withstanding they too are excellent lenses. Add in the 100-400 and virtually...

Re: Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

I'm sorry to hear about the medical condition. It's a shame having to part with a lens like this but someone will get good value at the price.

Re: Mandarin Ducks 2

As the name suggests they're not a native species but seem to do quite well in this country.

Re: Panasonic Leica D Vario Elmar 14-150 mm F3.5-5.6 lens.

I regretted selling mine when I switched to MFT as it is one of the most versatile lenses I've ever had.

Re: Tits Nest

The Oly does look slightly better and I've always suspected that to be the case. The problem is that the Oly only does 300 and 420 whilst the Panny does everything from 100 to 400.

Re: DIY Kruger safari - admin

Cost can certainly be an issue if you go for one of the upmarket luxury options and I doubt you can go anywhere for less than we manage in the Kruger. You might save a little by using a tent but not...

No apology needed! Of my five safaris in Kenya four were self drive in an LR - you need one for the roads there! The important thing is to go; you won't regret it.

They seem pretty well habituated to vehicles. Most will get out of the way when they see you coming, but animals always have right of way whatever their size. Animals, notably the Big Five, which...

Received wisdom is that if you drive at more than 8kph you risk 'washboarding' the surface. it seems to vary according to what the surface is.
