Re: Lens recommendation

Yes I agree. The Sigma 150 is great for macro and also a superb general purpose telephoto (so long as you don't min autofocus being a bit slow). The image quality on mine is breathtaking, and f/2.8...

Re: Lens recommendation

The Oly 60mm macro f/2.8 is a great lens (for macro and as a general purpose prime for for portraits), and used copies can be picked up for around 200-250. LCE have one for 260 with their...

Re: How to Post Photos?

It would be really great if this information was readily available to newcomers to the forum. Even greater if there was just one way to do it and that was very obvious.

Re: Panasonic 25mm f1.7 for m43

If you have Sigma 30 f/1.4 and Panasonic 20 f/1.7 you seem to have most bases covered. Not sure why you'd want a 25mm ...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I'm no expert, but I wonder ... maybe Oly aren't aiming so much to provide an upgrade path for existing Oly owners, but instead an extra credible choice for more "use cases" for people moving away...

Re: Looking for help pricing my E5 kit to sell

That's a *lot* of kit to sell as one job lot, unless you're selling it to someone who will split and sell on separately - particularly as three of your lenses (12-60, 11-22, 9-18) substantially...

Re: Street Photography are there any exceptions

Some of the great documentary photographers, including war photographers, have deliberately taken images of people who are in distress, and sometimes these are done with great sensitivity and skill...

Re: today only - 15% discount on eBay

Nothing tempted me too much either, but it would be a good opportunity for someone who wanted something available on the scheme. I sometimes hanker after the 75mm 1.8 and did ogle one with a discount...

today only - 15% discount on eBay

I believe this is only until 8pm this evening (18/12). The discount code POWWOW15 applies to almost all types of merchandise and deducts 15% (or 75, whichever is least).

Re: Street Photography are there any exceptions

The OP is posing just one example of a wider ethical question, which is whether it's okay to create an image of someone's (apparent) misfortune. Sometimes these can be quite evocative pictures, and...

Re: Oly 12-40 vs 12-100 size and weight.

I'm used to the FT 12-60 with MMF-3, so the 12-100 wouldn't seem large of heavy. But can quite understand that others might find it heavy.

Re: Oly 12-40 vs 12-100 size and weight.

"in m4/3 terms" is the key point. Users of most cameras would think the 12-100 wonderfully light and compact.

Re: 12-40

I'm intrigued as to why an owner of 12-100 (which I don't have, but hear wonderful things about) would also want a 12-40 (which I do have). Does the 1 stop of extra light make all the difference in...

Re: Suggestions - suitable bag for larger lenses

Funny. I have the Nova 180 (first edition, with a velvety carry handle which loses its furry finish) bought on here, and carefully packed it can contain lots of kit. E.g. E-M1 with MMF-3 and FT 12-60...

Re: Suggestions - suitable bag for larger lenses

Looks amazing value (though I don't recognise the retailer name and brand). But not quite for my spec as it says:

Re: Suggestions - suitable bag for larger lenses

Kata got taken over by Manfrotto. I got mine used from EBay. It is a model 3N1 - 35PL and is huge. Useful if you want to carry other stuff as well as photo equipment. And very robust.

Re: OMD EM1 Auto ISO

I'm not a mark ii owner but I think that did make it to the spec.

I'm sure they could add it to the E-M1 Classic spec with a firmware update if they wanted, but they might not want to. Would be...

Re: Suggestions - suitable bag for larger lenses

Thanks. Looks great. But I'm more interested in a shoulder bag than a backpack. I already have a large Kata backpack which can contain as much as I ever want to carry (and which has a facility to...
