Re: Honestly, do you like autofocus?

Neither, it is just another tool which works well for some jobs and less well for others.

I'm pretty sure you can the beep off (possibly by turning all beeps off, can't remember exactly how but I...

Re: Transport

An interesting beast. There are a few of them left - I'm not sure whether the one in Newport is back in operation (the only other one ever built in the UK, as far as I am aware without checking). The...

Re: Olympus 1.4x Tele Converter EC-14

To state the obvious, it will only work with 4/3 lenses, not Micro-4/3. If it works well with a particular lens on a 4/3 body there is no reason at all why it shouldn't on M4/3. And in practice I can...

Re: 10 Hour Working Week

I would be interested to hear what you think of the various temperature settings for making coffee, I always use the "boil it and wait a bit" method but it would be nice to be a bit more scientific....

Re: Factory reset - does it reset the file numbers ?

Surely if you keep a card with some photos on and put it back in after the camera reset, the numbers will just pick up where they left off?

Look like a day well spent, well done Toby. Could be the start of an expensive obsession though!

Re: Sony RX100

Horses for courses - I strongly preferred the faster lens on the Mk 3 and was happy with the pay-off of a smaller zoom range. It's good that we have the choice.

I haven't even tried to keep track...

Re: Sony RX100

And .... it is small. Which makes it nice and portable but might be a problem for people with big hands. Even my stubby little fingers end up pressing the wrong button sometimes.

Re: Sony RX100

I've been running a Mark III for a few years. Within its limitations it can produce quite good images and I'm quite pleased with it, but wouldn't use it for anything mission-critical.

Plus points:...

Re: Portrait of Humanity

That is a very interesting and important comment David. When we talk about photography we usually end up talking about the end result, but I think the act of doing it delivers a lot more. For example...

Re: Will Brits Take Action To Fight Climate Change

Fair point, but ......

The planet won't die, except in the very very very long term (unless we do something truly apocalyptically stupid and blow it to pieces). Humans, on the other hand, will...

Re: The beauty of grain

As Dorothy Parker (I think) said, for those people who like that sort of thing, it is the sort of thing that they like. So if you like it, all well and good.

I started reading about how he did it...

Re: Step down ring...60mm to 55mm required.

It looks as though 60mm is a rather odd size. I looked at SRB, who normally have everything, and they have 58s and 62s but no 60s.

Re: Vantage Points

Fascinating, the shots really give a sense of atmosphere and scale. It looks hard to scratch a living out of that harsh landscape.

Thanks for sharing.
