That's great wide angle framing Phil. Gives the Flying Scotsman a presence in its lanscape.*chr

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Chers Dave. I tried the flats calibration files and found them limiting. First I found dust bunnies can move when I change the battery and you need flats exactly as your camera and lens are...

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Thanks Dave

For this image I only used 15 dark frames in DSS. I also processed it without dark frames and to be honest I can only see a slight improvement over the dark frame subtraction. I think...

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Phil You can get great images of galaxies and nebula with shorter slower lenses. What have you got? But I would suggest that you put what Oly lenses you have in Stellarium and have a look around the...

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Just like to add to what Dave has already said. Yes such an image is possible with Oly equipment and a Star Adventurer with many riders. It would need an 300mm F4 lens + the MC1.4. You would need...

Unhappy Re: ISO is Fake - Seriously

I have just tried ISOBKT with my EM1 MKI and it takes 3 images, althoug I only hear one shutter press and if you you a 1 sec shutter it clearly takes 3 secs to take the picture. However I do find...

Re: ISO is Fake - Seriously

My understanding is that bracketing does not merge the images. With ISOBKT it takes the 3 frames with whatever ISO value you have set +/- the step. It only takes one shutter button press to create...

Re: ISO is Fake - Seriously

I thought it took several images at different ISO's and merged them in camera, so yes I think it does apply different levels of gain (pre ADC).

Re: ISO is Fake - Seriously

I would say that the video is misleading. As someone who is into astrophotography I have really tried to understand the ISO effect. From what I have read from trusted sources and books for Olympus...

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Agree Sharpcap is amazing. I would go as far as saying you need remote focusing to do this stuff it is essential. Touching the scope or even cables to get sub 2 arc second precision on portable...

Re: Considering upgrading to the Mark II and have a few questions.

I had the E5 and upgraded to the EM1 for motorcycle racing and cars. When panning and trying to follow the cars/bikes the EM1 was very poor compared to E5. I could never get good results with CAF...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?
