Re: E-M1 Firmware update

Although early days yet, has anyone found any 'hidden' feature improvements with the v4.6 update? I have no plans to use the new Olympus radio controlled flash system (I use Godox) so can see no...

Warning - Fotga branded M42 to M4/3 adapter.

Almost 2 years ago I bought a Fotga M42 to M4/3 adapter from a supplier in China with the expectation of being able to use a Pentax 50mm f1.4 lens on my E-M1.
For various reasons I did not get the...

Re: Lens orientation annoyance

Update: I purchased a sheet of 2mm red self-adhesive 'gemstones' on eBay and after cleaning the indicator recess with alcohol on my Olympus lenses, managed to apply the 'gemstones' into the recess...

Re: Lens orientation annoyance

Thanks for the suggestions - The 2mm crystals may possibly fit into the existing red-dot indentation so I'm going to give them a try (the button on my 12-40mm f2.8 appears to be 2mm) providing one of...

Lens orientation annoyance

Does anyone know a source of stick-on raised red 'buttons'?
One of the most annoying things for me about the Olympus non-pro lenses is the absence of the red 'button' that provides the means to feel...

Thumbs up Re: Looking for an alternative to Lightroom 6 Map module

Update:
Through a link on the GeoSetter page provided by Chris I found Jeffrey Friedlís Lightroom Plugin 'Geoencoding Support' which appears to do as much - and more - than the now defunct MAP...

Re: Looking for an alternative to Lightroom 6 Map module

Thanks for the suggestion Chris - it looks like a very complete programme. I can still geotag my images in Lightroom 6 - that part still works, but Google maps no longer display which is annoying, so...

Looking for an alternative to Lightroom 6 Map module

Does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative to the Lightroom 6 Map module?
After buying a GPS logger earlier this year and using it with the Map module, Google Maps have made changes which...

Re: Boxed M4/3 Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye

Swahili - yes. Given to me by one of my customers many, many, years ago in the days of film, chemicals and darkrooms they insisted on painting black!
Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't given the...

Talking Re: Boxed M4/3 Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye

Looks like that one has gone as well.
As on so many other occasions, I started out looking for information on something completely different and via several links ended up deciding what I REALLY...

Re: Command Flashguns

Thanks - a very helpful list. After many years of being a loyal Metz user I have all but abandoned the Olympus/Panasonic/Leica optical system in favour of Godox which is far more versatile and a...

Re: Geotagging photos

In my experience where 'phone signal strength is marginal, battery life falls like a stone, and if that means I need to carry a second phone with a big battery, why not carry a stand-alone GPS?

Re: Geotagging photos

I did give that some thought but use a PaYG system, so have to buy the phone outright. Also having GPS on all the time would kill the battery which means carrying a USB battery back up - so I might...

Geotagging photos

It would be useful to geotag my photos, especially when I'm only carrying my smart phone. If I subsequently decide the 'phone photo has merit it would be useful to be able to plan a later photo shoot...

Command Flashguns

Can someone confirm that the only Olympus flashguns that work as Command units for the E-M1 MkI are the FL-LM2 supplied with the camera and the FL-600R?
I'm looking for something a bit more powerful...

Re: OM-D E-M1 Mk I future support?

In all probability there is no budget or incentive to continue improvement of the older pro-am models (E-M1 Mk I, E-M5 etc). Having lost the lucrative consumer compact camera market that subsidised...

OM-D E-M1 Mk I future support?

During its lifetime as the Olympus premium camera, Olympus did a splendid job of improving the OM-D E-M1 Mk I camera body with firmware updates. Naturally the focus for their efforts has now switched...

Re: 'Lost' focus lock

As a postcript to the above, I've just learnt from someone on another blog that he still has Back Button Focus working on his E-M1 with firmware v4.1.
I updated my firmware from v4.0 to 4.1 and then...

In the past I had my OM-D E-M1 set up so that with the Lever switch in position 1 it would autofocus and the AEL/AFL button locked AEL.
When the Lever was flipped down to position 2 then the...

Re: Olympus FL-36R as a command flash?

Thanks
That, or something like it, is my fallback if I can't use a hot shoe flash; but it is not as convenient, and yet another thing to go wrong.
Evidently the Metz 64 AF-1 will do the job but at...
