Re: Vat

As Amc says, Dave, Lithuania is part of EU, so no VAT (nor Customs duty) is due on import. BUT just check that the seller is not doing what a certain Polish seller does, as well as a well-known...

Re: Has anyone completed Lightroom update?

Just what I found, Paul - I have CC all apps, but added LR +1TB to get the additional cloud storage which All apps subscribers do not have. That worked - but the LR Cloud was not available to me....

Re: EE1 dot sight

I haven't used it "in anger" yet, Phill, but it is well constructed, carefully packed, and impressive quality. I have fitted it to a camera and successfully adjusted red dot to match camera...

Re: EE1 dot sight

It's not an EE-1, it's a rifle sight, but it's equipped with a hotshoe mount adapter and appears to do the job:

At a price of £25 all in it seems...

Re: Tilt and shift adapter

I think Mike is referring to the widest focal length generally available for larger formats, Harold. When did you last see a 24mm lens for 5x4?

There are available a few tilt/shift adapters for...

Re: Filter for eclipse?

No screw on filters that I am aware of which do not cost more than £100. Stick with Baader film.

Anyone who has used live bulb has only a badly burned camera to show for it. Remember that even...

Re: Sending batterries

That was my understanding too, but a careful read of the Royal Mail rules posted by Cerebus proves otherwise! "Lithium ion/polymer and Lithium metal/alloy batteries sent in isolation are prohibited."...

Re: Filter for eclipse?

Yes, that is the one, I hadn't realised it was 1993 - ignore the detailed tracking for the eclipses of the 1990s (as did I) and turn to https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/solar.html for the current...

Re: Filter for eclipse?

Precisely what I did for 2006 in Turkey - the advantage of Baader film is that there is no colour cast, and a single sheet will cover at least two lenses.

BUT be sure to experience the eclipse...

Re: Friedman Archives: Moiré

Interesting article, Harold, with a good illustration of Moire on a Sony A7R2. Better still was the response to a customer service compliant about the Moire:

Re: Four Thirds 50mm f1.2 Macro ED Lens + Hood & LED Lighting Ring Kit

I do not doubt that, Harold, but your EM-1 sensor is not 35mm wide, and therefore your image is not 1:1!

If I remember correctly, the EM-1 sensor is 13x17mm, which would mean that your image is...

Re: Cloud storage

Crashplan still has the downside that Sapper had discovered, that to make good use of cloud backup you need decent upload speed, which I do, but it still took several full days to get the 350GB up...

Amazon Prime will store unlimited photo files for you for no fee other than the normal Prime fee. Olympus ORF files are accepted as photo file, to my certain personal knowledge, all 350GB of it.

Re: FR-2 Flash ring for the 60mm Macro

You might want to look at the LED macro lighting. It isn't flash, but it is much cheaper, starting at £15.50 on a well known online retailer's site.

And back to the suggestions above re the FR-2...

Epson R2400 ink cartridges

The 2400 met a sad, though hardly peaceful end. I had built up quite a stock of ink cartridges, which are now looking for a home:

592 x 4
593 x 5
594 x 1
595 x 2
597 x 3

Re: Olympus E-500 Body

And, people, don't forget that the E-500 (like the E-1, E-300 and E-400) has the unusual feature of a Full Frame Transfer CCD sensor. The effect is to allow each photosite/pixel to be larger than it...

Re: Christmas treat for the tog who has everything..

While I don't doubt that the lens fitted to the L-1 at your work is the f/2.8 version, David, for the benefit of others, there were two Leica 14-50 zooms. The slower f/3.8 version was the kit lens...

Re: Christmas treat for the tog who has everything..

Yebbut they do have another listing which is much more attractively priced.

Leica 14-150 zoom for 4/3 ... £699 is a not unreasonable price.

Especially when the price includes a Digilux 3 (aka...
