Re: Sad, if true

I'm still a little bit puzzled as to why the PEN range exists. They seem to offer less than the OMD equivalents of similar price, with the supposed benefits being rather subtle matters of styling and...

Re: Old 300mm Lens

Fascinating. Probably good value for the right buyer. It's the old OM fitting so would need an adapter and be only manual focus, and obviously not have the image stabilisation of the modern...

Re: Camera club speakers

Big name speakers are likely to be expensive. And of course being a good photographer may not mean you are also a good presenter. Our club has occasionally had an evening playing a DVD of a big name...

Re: E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

The plot thickens. He cancelled the original sale when I refused to pay through an alternative route, and has relisted with a price of 2000 or best offer, and messaged me to say that the new listing...

Re: E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

No. Not since he asked for payment in a non-standard way. But I don't think his use of "set" instead of "kit" is very relevant.

Re: Don't judge a camera by reviews, but by it's potential.

I think the photos there owe more to his eye, his observation and composition, than to his equipment.

Re: E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

Not everyone's first language is English. I think he/she means they were sold as a set, or kit.

Re: Godox X1T-O

Seems a shame. I like the RC system for keeping control in the camera rather than having to visit multiple flashes around the place to make adjustments. Also like the idea of the RC user interface...

Re: "That back-to-front lens hood" - Post yours here.

I tend to keep hoods on backwards unless flare is a problem. Feels a bit ostentatious and unnecessary to fit it when not needed.

Re: Lancaster University

Due to funding idiosyncrasies, universities have been spending a *lot* on new, sustainable and architecturally delectable buildings over the last decade or so. Quite a few are well worth...

Re: E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

Not all "too good to be true" offers are too good to be true. I've found a couple of genuinely under-priced bargains on EBay before; on one occasion from a pawnbroker who obviously didn't know what...

Re: Manfrotto 410 head

Looks brilliant value. If I didn't already have a geared head (I have the Manrotto XPRO) I'd snap this up. (Free bump for you)

Re: E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

Now seems a good moment to make a modest donation to this site. Grateful for advice (though I was also suspicious of my own accord).

(And no-one called me an idiot either! :-) )

Re: E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

I did question it with EBay (rather than Paypal) and they advised not to pay that way. It sounded dodgy. Thanks for confirmation.

As ever if the price sounds too good to be true it probably is. ...

E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

Just seen this on EBay and succumbed. Can't see any indication (apart from the low price) to suggest it's not genuine. Can be returned for up to 14 days (buyer pays postage). I'd been considering a...

Re: Oly 12-200 f3.5-6.3

From a marketing / selling point of view, I'm guessing this is to help Olympus CSC with 12-200 look like an attractive alternative to folk considering bridge cameras with huge zoom factors.

After nearly making a mistake while changing lens, I just had this thought. (I once studied usability and Human-Computer Interaction)

Why don't they design mirrorless cameras so that when you...
