Re: The Boeing 2707

Interesting.

"A key design feature of the 2707 was its use of a swing wing configuration. During development the required weight and size of this mechanism continued to grow, forcing the team to...

Re: Chinese phone spam

Do not trust caller ID!

I will say it again: Do not trust caller ID!

There are hundreds of mobile phone apps, many free, that allow you to call from whatever number you like.

These apps...

Re: Does Money really bring Happiness?

Let us hope so. :)

In fact virtually all of the legal work and insurance income from building, refitting and running these 'megayachts' comes straight to London. Curiously, most contracts around...

Does Money really bring Happiness?

I came across this story earlier today via a trade organisation, and I have to say it is as surreal as it is bizarre.

A Russian Oligarch’s $500 Million Yacht is in the middle of Britain’s...

Re: Question For The Computer Techies

It is a while since I have done it, but you simply right click on the 'Pictures' folder (say), select 'Properties' and then go to 'Location'. You will see the options in there.

You can also...

Re: Question For The Computer Techies

Can I just mention that if you use the Windows library folders for 'Documents', 'Pictures', 'Music', 'Videos' and so forth, (I generally don't), you can move the location of these folders from C:\...

Re: Question For The Computer Techies

There is no need to do that. Simply save the data in different folders. Partitioning in this case would reduce usable storage space.

FWIW I have a 750 GB external drive with disk images from all...

Re: Question For The Computer Techies

Yes you can [store multiple disk images on the same hard drive].

Each disk image will be given the name of the 'donor' computer, so each is discoverable separately.

However, by default, if...

Re: You won't believe this!

In other words, dumbing down to appeal to the 'lowest common denominator' (as they see it). :(

Ultimately it is all about playing whatever music maximises advertising revenue irrespective of its...

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

For sure Fuji Provia and Velvia are my favourites for colour, or FP4+ for black and white. The quality achievable from these films in medium format, and especially at 6 x 7 is just sublime. HP5+ also...

Re: Burglar (dead) flowers laid opposite victims house he broke into

There is also the fear of the 'race card' and the ECHR; both of which have been used before.

Plod finds it much safer to persecute otherwise law abiding car drivers for exceeding speed...

Re: OM-D E-M5 II - User opinions sought please

I would suggest buying a N*k*n lens cap or one for another cheap brand and keep the Olympus lens cap somewhere safe.

Re: OM-D E-M5 II - User opinions sought please

Both my lens hood and lens cap fell apart too. I understand this is a common problem, and they are very expensive parts for what they are!

Olympus replaced mine FOC under warranty, but I now use...

Re: Camera Body (Kent Area)

Probably too late but I have an E5 that I wouldn't mind selling.

I am up in Co. Durham but Royal Mail Special Delivery does a good job.

Re: OM-D E-M5 II - User opinions sought please

I don't have the OM-D E-M5 II or the 14 ~ 150 mm zoom but I would second what Paul says.

I have the OM-D E-M1 with the 14 ~ 40 Pro lens and find it superb and perfectly balanced, although best...

Re: So much for anti-virus software!

The question is, should we trust Kaspersky any more, or less than other AV vendors?

On the basis that it takes one to catch one Kaspersky is probably as good as any other AV offering right now. ...

Surely art transcends politics?

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

This is concerns me a lot; and it isn't necessarily about laziness.

As a micro sized business I trade all around the world, but it is so much easier trading within the EU for now than outside....

All witnesses are required to swear an oath before giving evidence;

Witnesses are routinely...

Re: So there IS a magic money tree

This is the crux of the problem in my view, and it doesn't just concern government. As a nation we seem to be afraid of investment and are unable to look beyond this month's bottom line. That much is...

Re: What sort of word is that?"

I often wonder about the wisdom of holding sporting events at times and in places where there is a very good likelihood that conditions will be extremely punishing for competitors.

Whether it be...

Re: What sort of word is that?"

Not a word as such but I am constantly irritated by the phrase 'moving forward'.

The same people also tend to use phrases such as 'hitting the ground running' and 'taking a helicopter view'. :(
