... Hover Fly in flight
I saw Phill D's post last week whilst on holiday in a cottage garden full of busy insects so I decided to have a go.

These are taken hand-held with E-M1 mk2 & 300mm F4 at...

Re: viewfinder query

Sounds like there are small flecks of dust/paint/similar which have become dislodged internally and landed on the inside face of the dioptre adjustment lens?
As Phil D says - it sounds like a repair...

Re: Is Olympus developing a new 150-400mm PRO Zoom?

If you want 300mm at F4 or 420mm at F5.6 there is already a Pro quality Olympus product - so I'm not sure why they would want to kill off this product's sales with a 150-400 zoom.

However I could...

Re: A few shots from Bordeaux

Paul,
I like 'The Street...' Shame about the electric cables though.
Hope you won't mind my suggesting that your "Archway" picture would be a stronger image if you cropped it from the top-left to...

Re: Sleep reset frustration

Chris,
I think that the only way you can prevent this is by assigning your (Landscape) Myset to one of your least used positions on the Mode dial (instead of a button).

Re: AF not as accurate

Mike,
I think at the FL you used (224mm) the field of view is such that where the plane of focus intersects the waterline would fall below the bottom edge of the image frame - hence no water in...

Re: AF not as accurate

Not sure if these account for the 'mis-focus' (which may not be a C-AF related problem) but -
Unlike the further 3 examples in your subsequent post (were the bird is crossing your field of view),...

Re: E-M1 Mkii Menu settings spreadsheet

Keith
This spreadsheet contains 3 pages. They are named "Settings", "Custom_Modes" & "Notes".
By design the spreadsheet will initially open showing the "Notes" page (so that new users can see what...

Re: Manfrotto compatible Arca plate for E-M1 II?

Not sure about Manfrotto compatability, but for an ARCA clamp I use a RRS B6 plate - with a piece of bike inner tube glued to the plate between it and the camera body so that the lip on the plate...

Re: How Big is the MC-14?

Ron,
No problems with mine, which Iíve had since they first shipped in 2014.
It looks like a solidly made piece of kit.

Re: How Big is the MC-14?

The 14.7mm dimension is from mounting - face to mounting face (i.e. the overall length increase when mounted on lens & camera). This dimension excludes the internal hump which protrudes approx...

Re: Digital and Analogue compared

Peter,
This isn't just a modern phenomena.
As I recall, the Stalinist era brought about a wealth of expertise in 'Photoshopping' analogue images.
Some may also say that Ansel Adams' printing...

Re: Broken Leica DG 8-18mm

Alf,
A further thought. Now that Panasonic have said the lens is not repairable, have you considered making a claim for accidental damage on your household contents insurance - it should be within...

Re: Broken Leica DG 8-18mm

Alf,
Sorry to see this. I had a similar experience with Panasonic a few years ago when my Pan Leica 14-150 4/3 lens developed a fault with the zoom ring.

My conclusion (following some limited...

Re: Lightroom

Dave,
LR version 6.9 (March 2017 update) was the first version to fully support the E-M1 mkii.
The latest (last) version of standalone LR is 6.14 (December 2017 update).

If you purchase any...

Good to know.

It would be good if the (freestanding) Camera Updater program checked for updates to itself.

After seeing the posts on this forum regarding Updater v2.1, I googled for it. The...

Re: Woodpecker on the bird feeder

Fine shots - I guess the OOF is inevitable given the very shallow Depth of Field for a wide open 300 + MC14 at that close range.

This User Manual Update is as half-baked as I have come to expect from Oly's Tech Lit department

You can do this on the E-M1 Mkii using the Fn Lever.
In Manual Mode with the Fn Lever in Position 1 the dials adjust Shutter Speed and Aperture.
Then flicking the Fn Lever to position 2...
