Re: Lakes photo trip with Alf?

Sounds like a great idea - I had a great time (despite the weather) when I last visited, which was too long ago!

Re: Who altered my advert then?

Well done Andy! You beat me to it. I actually created the new option but then the system told me it had already been done :D

I did correct some spelling in the 'Interested' option

Re: Who altered my advert then?

That's odd - I don't know how this happened.

There is no 'withdrawn'option - maybe I should add one?

Re: Sad news about my favouriote airliner

That does sound logical, but - unlike the 747, which was designed, right from the start, to be function both as a cargo and a passenger aircraft, I've read that the A380 design is fully-optimised for...

Re: Sad news about my favouriote airliner

I believe that A380s can operate out of any airport with a suitable runway and apron area but for regular service, you'd need a two-storey loading arrangement and roomy gate area.

One of the...

Sad news about my favouriote airliner

Hoping against hope, production of my favourite airliner will cease. The A380 is big, beautiful (in my eyes) and super comfortable - well, and just plain impressive.

While passengers like me...

Re: My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

Feedback from Panasonic I've received suggests that the large S-series body (which is significantly bigger than the new mirrorless FFs from Sony, Canon and Nikon) can be explained by the need to...

Re: My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

The OM Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 was even smaller.

It all comes down to optimising the lens optics to the sensor. I don't think Panasonic uses stepped microlenses, so you need the exit pupil to be large...

Re: E-M1X thoughts and excellent Dave Etchells video

The colorchecker test target on the right isn't in focus :D

Re: E-M1X thoughts and excellent Dave Etchells video

Back-lit sensors are more beneficial to really tiny sensors used in compact cameras and smartphones. Don't forget, as sensors go, Four Thirds is still considered large!

Re: E-M1X thoughts and excellent Dave Etchells video

My sources tell me that there could be a breakthrough in organic technology for small pixel pitch sensors. I don't have a time scale though.

Re: My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

I spent half a day with the FF Panasonic Lumix S1 on Saturday - it's undoubtedly nice and I'd not say no if offered one, but it's huge! The 50mm f/1.4 is the size of a ZD 14-35 f/2.0 - and some of...

Re: Red Kite (image heavy!)

Very interesting, Andy - thanks. One theory is that they have benefitted from road kill, but clearly households are feeding tham as well.

Re: Red Kite (image heavy!)

This one was low at first, while I was getting the camera - about roof-height. But my shots were fair crops as it had gained altitude by then.

Re: Red Kite (image heavy!)

I usually expect to see at least one every day if I go out for a day time walk for at least half an hour. Yesterday (not Wednesday, sorry) I saw this one out of the corner of my eye when I was in the...

Red Kite (image heavy!)

I never tire of photographing the red kites above the house and nearby. This was the scene on Wednesday during a welcome period of blue sky, if windy.

This red kit was circling - often low - near...

Re: E-M1X..not viable without portrait grip ?

The heat pipe feature is not particularly new or exclusive; a smartphone I am using (Honor View 20) at the moment has one. There was one on my desktop PC motherboard from ten years ago and most...

Re: E-M1X thoughts and excellent Dave Etchells video

Out of interest, how many here think the non-removable battery grip is a deal breaker?

E-M1X thoughts and excellent Dave Etchells video

When word first started filtering through about the E-M1X I admit I got a bit distracted by the fixed grip design. I decided some time ago that I, personally, didn't need a battery grip any more. So...

I usually go on the opening day.

But I could be tempted to visit on another day if required.

Re: Four Thirds User - currently being operated on!

I doubt it's a browser cache issue. Any device or browser I try connected via my ISP (and default DNS) fails. If I use a mobile data connection and/or VPN (different DNS) it works. So I think it has...
