Re: Christmas

Last week, I went for a lunchtime stroll around downtown Brisbane looking at all the pretty Christmas decorations. There were heaps of red and white Santas and baubles and green pine Christmas...

Re: Ashes

Oh dear! Looks like I did put the hex on Mitchell Marsh. Still, 181 isn't exactly a bad knock. Just for good measure, I was outside sweeping up the leaves and doing a spot of gardening when it...

Re: Ashes

Mark - Indeed we have every right to be proud of our team. - Especially when history is being made. I hope that I haven't put the hex on him, but Marsh only has to score another 25 runs for his own...

Re: CaptureOne 11

I don't know if it is worth "giving it a whirl". I upgraded as soon and the upgrade was available. - All of AUD192.48.

Rather than try out any of the new features, I decided to try it out on...

Re: Is it worthwhile repairing a 12-60 SWD lens?

Ross,

I'd have a chat with an Olympus-approved repair facility such as http://www.andersoncamera.com.au/ and see what they say. Not being owned by Olympus, they may have a slightly different take...

Re: Ashes

It's Friday morning in Brisbane. I am about to leave to catch the train through to Buranda for a short walk to the 'Gabba. :-)

Re: Has the 12-100 replaced your 12-40 / 12-35?

Those are precisely the reasons I have held on to my 12-40 after getting the 12-100, even though the 12-100 is being used almost exclusively.

The 12-40 is still a beautiful, compact and sharp...

Another one for the "Bucket List", thanks to Mark. ;-)

Lovely photos by the way. You really manage to get that XZ-2 to sing.

Re: Those old DSLRs weren't all that bad...

"Sirens"?? Now that was the movie that convinced me that Elle McPherson was a bit of all right!

But yes, I remember the grounds of Norman Lindsay's house. It would be a great place to visit and...

Re: Rubber grip falling off!

I sent my EM-1 II to Sydney for a warranty repair when the off/on switch got a bit sticky and got it back a month later. Fortunately I still had the EM-1 (Mk I) for company while I waited.

Re: Some rocks, a broken wagon and wine

As I said earlier, the Granite Belt is one of the few places in Queensland suited to the growing of wine grapes. We were just wondering about why solitary rocks were there. - Lonely rock?

Re: Some rocks, a broken wagon and wine

That's because you can't see that the wind was blowing and driving the rain. That photo was taken during a break in the rain, but the wind was still blowing.

I am sitting at Brisbane...

Those old DSLRs weren't all that bad...

Back in early 2006, I bought my first DSLR - an Olympus E-300 with a Zuiko 14-45mm 1:3.5-5.6 zoom lens. I still have that camera and lens and they both still work perfectly.

I had just resigned...

Hehe! I am too old to begin building a new career. I took that photo at the encouragement of an old friend (on the far right of the photo below), who suggested that I send it to Mark Ravenscroft (in...

Some rocks, a broken wagon and wine

On Saturday 30 Sept 2017, the owner (and winemaker) of my favourite vineyard on Queensland's Granite Belt decided to throw a Spring Garden Party at the vineyard. The Granite Belt is one of the very...

Re: Rubber grip falling off!

I have used Loctite Power Flex on the rubber grips of all my Olympus cameras except for the E-M1 II, which hasn't come loose yet.

It works well. - Very much better than the stuff Olympus used when...

Re: Bigma 50-500

Agreed. It isn't exactly all that great for birds in flight. However, if the light is decent, it isn't all that bad for airshows. Here are some which I took at an airshow earlier this year. I was...
