Re: Good lightweight, smallish theft-proof camera bag?

Having seen pro pickpockets at work on the metros in Madrid, Barcelona and Stockholm I recommend Pacsafe products.

These people will open zips and flaps in a moment without you noticing, pinch...

Re: Testing Lenses - m43 vs OM on the E M1

I too consider the 40-150 "Kit Lens" to be extremely good Value for Money, especially when it can turn back this level of IQ:

100% crop from RAW (No Processing) 150mm hand held at a moving target:...

Re: Testing Lenses - m43 vs OM on the E M1

Thanks for sharing your results, it's always good to hear other people's opinions, specially as well thought out as these.

I am a bit surprised by your results with the m43 40-150 kit lens - I had...

Re: E520 - stick, wait or upgrade now?

Interesting I'd rather not have the rec view function on all the time as it gets in the way and slows things down. I'd rather get a review by pushing the review button when and for as long as I want...

Re: E520 - stick, wait or upgrade now?

The sensor stabilisation system makes a very faint sound all the time, even when switched off; the sensor is basically suspended electromagnetically.

Re: Are you happy with your E-M1?

OK just tried it out and they both work in A mode on my camera. I suspect it is something else you have switched on that's preventing them from working rather than a fault but I could be wrong.

Re: Are you happy with your E-M1?

To be honest I have both of those features turned off as they just seemed to get in the way. Having said that although there are a few interactive quirks I'd have thought they should both work in A...

Hello everyone

I'm from Spain and I found your forum through a link in dpreview. I like to participate in worldwide M4/3 forums, and I'm glad I found one in UK.

Re: E520 - stick, wait or upgrade now?

The function is called "Rec View" and you will find it in the Setup Menu (spanner). You can set it to display the shot you have just taken for between 0.3 and 20 seconds. Page 91 of the manual...

Re: E520 - stick, wait or upgrade now?

No, because there is no electrical (or mechanical) connection that communicates to the camera. Here's a quote from page 68 of the E-M1 Manual.

Re: E520 - stick, wait or upgrade now?

Moving it from 1 to 2 should change the settings options. For example, with it set on 1 press the AF button on top left of the body. On the LCD screen it should show the Metering options at the top...

Re: E520 - stick, wait or upgrade now?

The Oly 45/1.8 is lighter and smaller than the Sigma 60/2.8, but NOT cheaper (as you state above). Oly 45 ~175 new; Sigma 60 ~120 new. And neither is a big lens. The Sigma actually feels more...

Re: Changing from 43rds to m43rds glass (the gradual road to m43rds emersion)

As for the 40-150s, the little plastic 100 quid job is fantastic for the money and the output at f8 is pretty much indistinguishable for the pro lens, well worth having for its size and price in...

Re: Changing from 43rds to m43rds glass (the gradual road to m43rds emersion)

I am struggling a bit to respond to your question, it is more than two years now since I changed from 4/3 to m4/3.

Many of the older 4/3 lenses do not focus as well on m4/3. For example the 14-54...

Re: Focus peaking with legacy glass?

No problem. Just treat any lens as normal but with a x2 TC behind it.

Re: E520 - stick, wait or upgrade now?

I still think that all you need to do (initially at least) is to get a 12-60mm Zuiko to use on your E520. It is so versatile and will transform the results from the camera, and may be all that you...

Re: Stick with Elements 6 or Upgrade

I convinced myself, and someone else confirmed that FastStone uses the Adobe DNG as its front end to convert RAW files into editable data.

Lightbulb Re: Stick with Elements 6 or Upgrade

For me the best thing about DxO is the "Micro Contrast Control". For anything with fine detail, such as lace on dresses, it is excellent.

Re: Stick with Elements 6 or Upgrade

Yes anything you put in front of the lens, or in setting shutter speed and aperture will show up on both versions

Anything done after the image is captured in camera will not be done to the raw...
