Re: Who is this ?

Whyever not?

(I'm not normally the sort of person to wear advertising stuff, but buying an extra strap doesn't seem like my highest priority. What are the advantages?)

Re: So who's going to enforce it?

Maybe the taxi drivers should wear a pullover. Most of their customers will be in outdoor clothing and don't really want to be overheated while in a taxi. As for buses, I expect the bus companies...

Re: Olympus E-M1

Such a shame these wonderful cameras are not valued more highly. I have no need for another.

Re: S-AF(MF) - a slight downside

Sorry if I put that confusingly.

If you're in S-AF(MF) then you can take photos with whatever focus you select; sharp or fuzzy. Even if you have Rls Priority S, you won't be prevented from taking...

Re: Do we actually need HS2?

HS2 is likely to enrich London and the south east at the expense of the rest of the country. If we abandoned the London to Birmingham branch but went ahead with Birmingham to North East and North...

S-AF(MF) - a slight downside

When I started using OMD a couple of years back, I quickly decided S-AF (MF) seemed to be better than S-AF for normal use in that it gave me the extra option to make fine tuning using the focus ring...

Re: First from the 12-100

Could be a viable meet? I'm not far off. Lots of photographic interest thereabouts too. Cromford Mill pond, Via Gellia, Matlock Bath, Black Rocks, Climbers on High Tor / Wildcat crags etc. (Years...

Re: First from the 12-100

Cromford also has this wonderful mecca for lovers of used books (and they also have a nice cafe, and the very photogenic millpond outside). Not to be missed if you like that sort of thing.

Re: Android Stock - yes/no

Funny. I had an old MOTO G 4G with Android "kit-kat", and resisted pressure to upgrade to "lollipop" in the grounds that I knew others who had done so had found it made the phone grind to a halt. I'm...

Re: Back Button focussing

A footnote to this. Since writing it I have obtained lenses with a AF/MF switch (PL 15 f/1.7) and with MF clutch (Oly 12 f/1.8).

Initially I wondered about using Fn2 for something else when one of...

Re: Ad hoc event tog experience

Got to the checkout in the supermarket today and found myself being served by a younger black woman who was dressed, made-up and accessorised in a similar style to some of those I'd been mingling...

Re: 6 in a thousand.

That's probably why there's little or no feral pigeon mess or nuisance around the Newton building, but far too much in the city centre.

Re: Camera protection

Seems an appropriate solution to me. It would give less protection against major drops than a more padded bag, but sufficient protection for general purposes.

Ad hoc event tog experience

I don't like the idea of renting software either. I purchased DXO Photolab (including the DXO Viewpoint add-on) and a copy of Affinity Photo thinking I'd want the latter for any detailed local...

Re: WARNING: E-M1 Camera body eyelet has come away from camera body!

Well - I have it back. Not sure how I would know whether it has been serviced; the receipt only mentions the repair. I think the exterior has been cleaned; not sure about the sensor. Now I have to...

Re: WARNING: E-M1 Camera body eyelet has come away from camera body!

They appear to have done it for nothing. I sent it in at their cost, had an acknowledgement to say they'd received it and would consult me if they had any questions, and now have a text to say it's...

Yes - I echo all of that. Great entries. (And of course my ego is slightly inflated as I got a few votes). I "voted" for quite a lot of the entries, and then had to pare it down to three,...
