Re: Who is this ?

Funny you should say that, I was thinking he looked a bit like me but I have 30 years' worth less of hair than that :)

Re: Portrait of Humanity

That is a very interesting and important comment David. When we talk about photography we usually end up talking about the end result, but I think the act of doing it delivers a lot more. For example...

Re: Who's been sleeping in my bed - NSFW

Impressive sequence. I like the way that we can almost read the facial expressions in number 2!

Re: Will Brits Take Action To Fight Climate Change

Fair point, but ......

The planet won't die, except in the very very very long term (unless we do something truly apocalyptically stupid and blow it to pieces). Humans, on the other hand, will...

Re: The beauty of grain

As Dorothy Parker (I think) said, for those people who like that sort of thing, it is the sort of thing that they like. So if you like it, all well and good.

I started reading about how he did it...

Re: April 2019 Challenge: Old Technology

I think we get a week to mull it over and vote, Toby, so still plenty of time....

Re: Step down ring...60mm to 55mm required.

It looks as though 60mm is a rather odd size. I looked at SRB, who normally have everything, and they have 58s and 62s but no 60s.

Re: Vantage Points

Fascinating, the shots really give a sense of atmosphere and scale. It looks hard to scratch a living out of that harsh landscape.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Old Town Harbour, Raw vs JPEG

Having read the comments and looked again, several times:

The second shot, from the raw file, appears to show more detail in both shadows and highlights. This shows up in the highlights on the...

Re: Correcting the evf tint

Responding to your first post .... :)

I don't generally notice it, but under some specific circumstances it is certainly strange. I sometimes shoot live music, these days nearly everywhere has a...

Re: Old Town Harbour, Raw vs JPEG

I prefer the slightly warmer colour rendition in the second, and you seem to have brought out the shadows a bit better. But I'm sure you could have done both of those with the other file if you had...

Re: Daft some may say, but I don't think so......

When I worked in a big office, for some reason people thought I was "the photographer" and asked for advice on what kit they should buy. Generally the answer was to try and handle stuff and go for...

Re: Concrete Jungle

I think the third is by some way the strongest of the three. The first two give a good impression of the places but, for me at least, the third has something extra going on. Maybe it is because there...

Re: March 2019 Monthly Challenge; Cityscape/Architectural

Congrats to the winners and well done to everybody who made the effort to enter.

It is interesting to see how widely spread the votes are this time. Perhaps it shows that what matters is not so...

Re: Monochrome raw files

What editor are you using to display the file? I'm sure all the raw data will be in there, however there is probably a tag somewhere in the metadata that says "Jeremy wants monochrome". If your...

Re: Devon and the EM1 Mk2

I like the mystery in the third photo with the cluster of lights front right, which we can't really place properly because of the darkness.

Were you near Exmouth by any chance?

Re: Lower EVF mag. much better for eye-glass wearers.

I am a long-term speccie.

Apologies if you know this already - the E-M1 has various formats of viewfinder display, and with the one that fills the screen I can't see all of it at once. So I use...

Re: Battery Status

Interesting, thanks Mike. For me, the better battery charge gauge was a very nice new feature of the Mark II - makes the add-on grip all but redundant. I'll have a look at those displays.
